brake and clutch controls

    hey everyone, I recently scored a 2000 in cherry shape with just 10k miles, recently put new tires on, still considering suspension, but in the short term wanted to change the angle of the front brake/clutch levers.

    the bike has stock bars with 3/4 inch risers.

    tried to rotate the controls lower to match my shoulder/arm/hand .....would need to rotate the controls down about 3/4 inch to 1 inch to get the angle I'm looking for.

    the stock bars wouldnt let the brake and clutch fluid boxes rotate.

    any simple fix?

    Only pussy's use there front brakes...and a clutch ...who needs those ;).just messin with ya..Im sure somebody will chime in...good luck Frisco

    The clutch and brake rotate. You shouldn't have a problem moving them. If you slide them too far in, they will catch on the clipon casting and feel like they are "locked in" to the position. Just remove both bolts on the clamping cap and make sure someone didn't put epoxy or something silly on there, then move to your heart's content. Within whatever motion it allows, of course.

    You can use Suzuki SV650 bars which are also 41mm, or do what I did & file the offending protrusions down to allow the angle you want. You can see where I trimmed the bar in this pic, I just used a half round file & worked it till the reservoir fitted at the angle I needed.

    Hi Matt, no worries about strength unless you are a Gorilla or crash, then it might create a localised stress point & cause the ally part to sheer, but you would have other worries at that point. Mine have been like this for 2 years & no issues. If you look at some of the aftermarket ones or those on newer bikes, they have a lot less material in them. So more than strong enough.
