I've been looking at leather gear and having difficulty deciding what would look good and FIT well. I like two piece suits and protection is most important but I don't want to look like a "racer". No offense please but some of those suits are, if I can use the expression, "out there". I bought a two piece from a guy locally. An AVG. Looks okay but it is too big for me. If anyone is interested in that I can send pics. Size 50 Euro/XXXL U.S.
I came across a pair of leather pants on Ebay which I like the looks of but quality and fit are a big concern. Here's a link to those.

I also found a new two piece suit on Ebay that I would like any opinion at all on. Does it look stupid, dorkish or that "Super Hero" look?? Good quality?

    Thanks for your help,
    Jeff

The pants are already sold. The two piece suit? Run away I say. Two piece suit for 300 bucks tells me it is likely made with cheap vinyl rather than leather and the armour is likely poor at best.

I know we all have our limits when it comes to money spent on our passion, but your riding gear is some place where you should spend as much as you can afford for quality gear. Though it is hard to tell quality from a photo, that suit looks plain cheap. And the seller's ratings are kinda weak.

Take a look at Speed and Strength twist of fate 2.0 for protection and value with subdued looks. You can also look at Spartan Leathers. They have both custom and off the rack offerings.

JeffOkay appreciate the reply. The item sold has actually been relisted. Just wanting opinions about it. To me the quality of the pants looks to be pretty good....??
The description of how the two piece is made and the thickness/quality of the leather just may be a pretty good product as well...??? I've seen more expensive ones that look cheap to me. There is very good quality out there but it gets to the point like with other products you're paying for the name. I do expect for good and bad opinions.

That you did. If you do buy this suit and I am wrong, that will be great. If I am right, that is too bad. If you don't buy it, then really I don't care because it will make no difference.

    Good luck with your choice.

I would click the link if it were for "Lip-stick-leather-totting-lesbians."

Good to stay away from leather jock-straps if you wana be perceived as straight.

    I agree. Not exactly ATGATT.

Hope the OP doesn't pop for those 32" leathers and find out they are short-shorts..

Best leather jacket I have is a 20 year old Hein Gericke Paris- Dakar.. about to be Lexol'd again. Another fave for leather care is NikWax.. All kinds of that stuff.

Ya know. If I could ever talk my wife into going for rides, or trips for that matter, I would really consider adding a Goldwing to the garage. But I think the VFR will be the mainstay.

Check out this link, Fieldsheer makes some decent gear and if you look around you could find a jacket that will mate to these pants without looking like "Ricky Racer" and probably end up spending less than $500.00! Fieldsheer Sport 2.0 Pants :: MotorcycleGear.com

To be honest I thought the same thing at one time, about looking like Ricky Racer, but after wearing my Dainese suit I could care less about what others think I look like! Being comfortable and feeling well protected trumps any perception of others! If you're being budget conscious, you might look into Top Gear Leathers. The suits that are above the $200.00 mark are pretty decent and actually on the same level as the Cycle Gear Bilt and Sedici lines. Which prompts the question, did you look into either of those brands?

I have a little video review I did of the low end Top Gear Leather suit that you might want to check out...http://vfrworld.com/forums/gear-accessories/37357-topgear-leathers.html look at post #17

One thing is for sure, your wife won't be needing any of that cruiser leather stuff I suggested.. Unless you are secretly hooked up with La Chicky..;)

I'm with OOTVS. Stop by your local cycle gear and look at what they have. I bought some NOS Frank Thomas leather pants to go with my jacket and they were $80. DIRT cheap for nice, thick leather with CE armor. The pants have both the small and large zip. I made an adapter with the large zip and they attach to my jacket just fine. They are plain black and cover all the way down to the ankle. I kind of wish they were shorter as I have now purchased some sport oriented riding boots and the long lower leg cuff really bunches up inside the boots. With my 3/4 rise daily riding boots, these pants have been SUPER comfortable.

If you want a single piece, the Bilt/Sedici one pieces go on sale for $299/$399 on a rotating basis. You can go into the store and actually try on the suits before you buy.

I posted a review of my jacket (bought off e-bay for under $100). It is an AWESOME value and I am still happy with it a couple years later. Just because it doesn't carry a name brand sticker doesn't automatically mean it isn't going to be good/great quality. The key is to look for 1.2 to 1.4mm leather and to make sure it has CE approved armor. Double stitched seams are best, but a single stitch with thick thread works too. Good luck finding what fits you.

That was a nice garment, for me it was the Vetter "Full-Force" jacket. I screwed up though and bought it a size or two too large, because I wanted to wear a sweater under it. Still excellent though. Now its Vanson stuff, I am a snob...where is my quiche?

When Vetter came out with that fairing that was as big as a spinnaker, I punted on his stuff. Before that I had some original Belstaff and full leathers from Joe Bates. Got the P-D a size too large too. Glad I did...

Never had a Vanson. Bud of mine is a rep.. Good gear. I only eat quiche when nobody is looking..:)

I have worn a 2 piece Fielsheer leather suite for a long time for street riding. It is very comfortable, perforated for air flow and armor and padding in all the right places. For the track its a Teknic 1 piece Excellerator.
