Does anyone have any experience with either of these? I have used the Heli before, but on on my VTEC Interceptor. The Gen Mar raise the bars 3/4", and the Heli move them 1 1/2" back and 1 1/4" up....I am leaning toward the Heli, but was looking for some feedback... ???

    Howdy,

I prefer the Helibars. The biggest reason is that they allow you to rotate the control levers down more than the stock clip ons. This way, the angle across my wrist and forearm is 180 degrees. With the stock clip ons, the angle was less than 180 and I had to bend my wrists up. When operating the levers, this would cause pain in my wrists after a few minutes. Also, the Helibars can be rotated around the fork tubes to change the lateral angle. Again, I got it to the point where my wrists were straight in line with my forearms from side to side. Those two things combined with the higher rise and pull back made the deal for me. I have used them on two separate VFRs for a combined mileage of over 100K miles in the last four years and love them! Yes, they are twice the price of the Genmars, but then I think they are more than worth it in the long run.

    Adios,

I bought the Gen Mar about a year ago and am now searching for a deal on the Heli Bars. I am curious if the new Heli Bars with one pinch pin can be used with the Gen Mar collars. When I get the Heli's I will let you know. With both in use at the same time, there could be a problem with cables, but I can't validate that. If you want to go even higher I had considered Convertibars http://www.convertibars.com/

I have Helibars on mine and yes I think you will have trouble if you try and combine both Gen Mar and Helibars. The cables are right at the limit with just the Helibars. I thank that is how they decided what the the rise and rear sets are. I love the Helibars by the way and wouldn't be without them. Solved wrist, arm and back problems for me.

If you go with convertibars you will need to replace the brake and clutch lines to get more of a change than you have with the Helibars. Not sure about how much the wiring play there is.

I thought I might have a problem with the cables. I am looking forward to seeing the difference on the Heli's. I was trying to save some money when I bought the Gen Mar's. I guess that's what you get when trying to save a buck on such and awesome bike.

I think Kia is getting another group buy together now. 220.00 plus shipping . I installed mine two weeks ago, & love them. They are comfortable but still sporty.

do u have the convertibars? I was thinking about getting just the convertibars w/o the kit to extend the lines, then buying the kit only if I needed more length then w/the helibars. thanks

Ill have to try a bike with something like this to see if its better, i personally think stock setup is pretty comfy upright position (i come from a 08 GSXR750) so i am used to the crouched position so the VFR's upright position is sometimes nice for a change. Will the Heli's cause anything to hit during full lock to lock turns?

Lots of bikes now have seats that can go in more than one position for some adjustability, and a few with adjustable footpegs, and a few with adjustable bars. Most BMW's offer 1 or more of these, and several of thier models offer all 3.

For more on Heli vs. Gen mars vs. convertibars, there is another discussion about them on this board.

I have the heli's and you do have to do some moving around of components, but it is possible to have absolutely nothing hit at full lock to lock. Ironically, it's also a pretty comfortable position too. I didn't have any trouble with cables/wires length. I guess you really do get what you pay for...
