Hey guys! Sorry it took so long for me to get pictures :/. I didn't get any of the inside of the bike or anything (I don't have a shop and my tools are elsewhere), but I took some pictures of the bike itself. And thanks Grey, for the helpful post. I look forward to working on this and posting pics and getting replies and sharing progress with everyone here!

    Here goes:

My fuse under that panel would go out mad often (and for no [apparent] reason), and I couldn't start the bike without replacing it. Does that confirm or rebuke your theory of the melted plug?

It is really easy to check if the plug is melted or not. If you pop the left side cover off you will
See an alloy part with some cooling fins. That is the regulator and its plug has 3 yellow wires in it. Mine was melted too and I just put it into a connector. As for a blowing fuses - There are many possibilities but this is easy to check cause its visual. Good luck

Sorry guys, I've been neglecting this thread :/ I've been very busy with work, but I thought I'd leave an update.

This goes against the DIY spirit, but I've left my bike with a friend of mine (motorcycle mechanic with all the right gear and knowledge), so he can work on it while I'm at work. That way the bike is up and running, and I don't have to come here for the simple questions like "should I replace my broken starter switch?" I've asked him to take a lot of pictures, though. So everyone can still see where the bike is when I get it back.

THEN I'll do upgrades and things, per the advice of team VFRworld.

Gotta run, I'll update again soon! (we all know by now my soon is not the same as your soon :/ sorry)

I have nothing to contribute to this thread except to say, I can feel a lot of love among VFR owners in here.

BTW, Rainman that is one lovely looking Honda you have. How about posting up more pictures so I can admire it. I looked but you don't seem to have a gallery. Just saying.

It's nice you have someone you can trust with it. Some dealers won't even touch an old bike. This way, you can get it back faster than poking away at it on the weekends. We look forward to the pics. Keep us updated.

That looks like a really nice bike, I can understand now why you want to fix it up. I also like your spirit - not letting the attitudes around here keep you down. I always have the mentality that it is my bike and I will do what I want. This is America after all!
