what are these tapped holes for... 85 vf-500

not sure what these two tapped holes are on each side of the rails..on the underside... see pics...

I think that those are the holes used to attach the factory luggage rack. Hope that helps

 

Anybody got a pic of possible stock luggage racks.... Would be cool to have

 

Here's one for a 750 interceptor. I sold it cause I never used it. There's a tab on each side that goes under the side bars and bolts to the holes you asked about.
