    I bought a SSSA stand for $40 the other day missing the pin. I figured I could pick up something cheap that would work, or a replacement pin.

    But I am having trouble finding info on a Silver brand stand. Anyone hear of it?

    The ID of the stand-bearings are close to 31/32" or 0.96875". I have a pipe that fits the wheel hub (~1.05"), but is too large for the stand.

    Never heard of Silver brand bike stands Brad but I can tell you that Flyncycle Motorsports offers single sided swingarm adapter pins for BikeTek brand rear stands.

    Here's the link to the Flyncycle webpage. Click me.>>>>>BikeTek Rear Single Swingarm (ADAPTER PIN ONLY) - Accessories - Stands - Street

    The BikeTek brand rear stand adapter pin measurements are as follows.....

    RED = 28.5mm (1.1220 in.)
    BLUE = 57.25mm (2.2540 in.)
    GREEN = 131mm (5.1575 in.)
    YELLOW = 25mm (.9840 in.)

    Dunno if this helps any but here are the dimensions for a pitbull "H" pin that fits 5th and 6th gen rears. All measurements on the caliper are in inches in case you can't see the lil "in" in the corner.

    This picture is not so clear as to what it is. This is the ID of the Pitbull stand bearing race.

    Nice calipers, I have the sames ones out at my knife-shop. :)

    It looks like the Pitbulls use a smaller ID bearing in the stand. My ID is juuuuust shy of 1", I'd call it 31/32".

    I talked to my cousin last night, who works at my uncles racing radiator fab shop. He has a lathe set up to turn aluminum already, so he is going to turn a pin to my specs. :)

    I have a question about how the pin/bearing assembly actually works. Which portions are fixed together?

    I would assume that the pin is an easy yet secure slide into the hub, and the entire wheel/pin assembly spins on the stand bearings.
    OR
    Is the pin mostly stationary, and the bike wheel spins on it's own bearings?

    I've seen both. The nicer ones allow the rear wheel to spin making rear wheel/chain maintenance easier. I know you set the 5th gens chain slack on the center stand, so you can't set it on the swing arm stand.

    But, if you have bearings where the pin goes, the pin should rotate.

    That's what I was thinking as well. Just trying to figure out what types of tolerances I should have from Pin-to-stand and Pin-to-hub.

    The pin rides on the bearings and spins independently of the stand. If you look at one of my pics (the third one that shows the "H" stamp on the end of the pin) you can see a small collar laying next to it on the bench. That collar is split with a screw and clamps down on the smaller end of the pin once you put in in the stand to secure it in the bearings. Please note, the pin is a big ass heavy piece of steel, made to take copius ammounts of weight. I know there is aluminum out there that can handle the same ammount of abuse and weight, just make sure that's what you're using if you're gonna machine your own pin. VFR's are fuckin HEAVY!!!

    I love when people use 'copious' correctly. :)

    I was looking at a 1-1/8" solid bar of 6061 to start with. It will get turned to ~ 0.95" for the stand and ~1.05" for the hub. Also should have a ~1/8" fillet in between to reduce any stress risers...

    If it is going to deform, it will be in the first part of the stand-section. Now to go look up the deforming and shear properties of 6061. I KNEW I should have kept all those college CivilEngr books...

    Oh, and I had noticed the collar before... glad Pitbull uses something more than a spring clip!

    I should be able to find a premade collar and have the bar turned to fit.
