It's been ages since I've played with my GoPro, and I have a lot of friends back east and in Chicago who are suffering from withdrawal, so I thought I'd help out! :)

Saturday I mounted the GoPro as low on the fairing as I could without touching (I think it *may* have scraped slightly once) and shot a quick loop of the eastern Santa Monica Mountains.

It's long at almost 35 minutes (over 2Gb to upload), but I really like the footage from the low angle, and it's not as jittery as I thought it would be (the suction cup arm tends to bounce a lot ...which sucks).

Anyway, I'm not good at editing videos, so I dumped all the clips onto my iPad and threw this together in iMovie. ...just remember that I am an iAmature.

    Enjoy!

D - Oh yeah, make sure you check "HD" at the bottom, right corner.

    Hey ZenMoto

Thanks for that video. Really helps to get through the winter duldrums when you get to see a ride and hear it somewhat, so if you close your eyes momentarily it's almost like being there. Living in BC, in the middle of the mountains, we do have our fair share of nice twisty roads but there is only one that I can think of near me that is as nice as that one. Makes me want to move the family to California. All the best

Hey Zoom, glad it helps keep the spirit alive during the winter months.

...the weather and roads are the main reasons I can't bring myself to leave California, despite the ridiculous cost of living here!

These are just the roads in my back yard, so to speak, there are much better roads all over California, but with a wife and kids ...I just don't get the time I used to, to head out and explore them. Sadly, I think my 40k mile summers are behind me for a while! lol

    Hey ZenMoto

As you can see from my avatar, I know what you mean about riding when you have a wife and kids (mainly young kids, son is 5 and daughter is 3). My wife always enjoyed going on rides with me and we would sometimes do 300-700 km's (200-400 miles) most every weekend during riding season. My son absolutely loves going for rides with me (we did about 1000 km's together last year), although most of the rides are less than 30-40 miles at a time. The wife keeps getting jealous as my son appears to be getting more seat time than she does. She used to ride a CBR600 but finds that her wrists and shoulders bother her too much now when riding on her own so she prefers to ride shotgun and enjoy the scenery. I had suggested a different bike might be in order but she declined, unless of course we were to buy her a Canam Spyder (heresy I know, but that is what she wants).

If that road was in my back yard, as it were, then I don't think I would ever need to venture to far from home. Most of the really nice (twisty) roads in my area involve a good 20 minutes or more on straight but somewhat curvy highway.

ZenMoto, do you have any footage of Latigo Cyn. you can post?

ZoomZoom, the roads in ZenMoto's video are some of the funnest you'll find in Malibu but Latigo Cyn. is roughly 15-20 minutes of non stop curves and very few straightaways. Check out post #28 in the thread below, it was edited for time/file size to load up on YouTube, raw footage is ~20 minutes in real time. Hopefully ZenMoto will have better footage (i.e. HD video).

Note: I'm the lead rider and VFRMan44 is the one with the camera, this was his first time on the road.

I actually don't have a video of Latigo ...maybe if I get a chance to get out this weekend I can make one though. :)

The sun is shining nice and bright here today. Roads are dry but it is sitting right on the freezing mark. If I was working and needed to commute, it would be on the bike but not to go out fro a leisurely ride. I have ridden in -10c temps a few times. (14 F). That is a touch cold but I managed.

Sadly, my wife (teacher) has a conference tomorrow, and I'll be home watching kiddies until after 3. ...Sunday we're heading to OC for a buddy's birthday. I may not get to ride this weekend at all! :(

Nice vid! Am surprised that the road seemed a bit beat up, and are there "Wallows" in some spots for water drainage across the pavement? Just like when I watch boxing matches, your vid make my hands sweat a bit. Good angle.

Hey OOTVS, I made it out Sunday and made a video of Latigo just for you. ...sadly, it was 36 degrees at the top (though 61 at the bottom) and I had already seen black ice, so the pace is a bit scaled back from my other video.

I just got footage my boss shot following me on his Triumph 675, but I don't know if I'll get a chance to edit them together.

    Enjoy!

Cool! Thanks for posting this. It was more for Zoom-Zoom as he really seem to like the Mulholland video, figured he get a kick out of Latigo footage. We actually went up Latigo on our Saturday ride. OCLandspeeder and I came up through Topanga Cyn. to meet up with Duccmann and VFRMan44 at the 101 and Mullholland and it was 25F in the canyon. Needless to say we weren't hitting any real speed at that time. We did get better temps going up Latigo but there were a lot of bicyclist so we had to slow down again. I was able to get some HD footage this time around, plus some footage of Tuna Cyn. that I'll try and get edited and posted later. My work schedule has me gone a few days this week and all of next week!
