So I looked online and couldn't find anything I "really" liked. I would just junk the original anyway so I decided to mess around with it. 5 holes in the plastic under the seat to re-mount the pieces I removed and a hacksaw to cut the ass-end up and this is what I'm left with. Over all I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out with just about an hours time.

Nice work everyone. I like the 1200, but that stock rear fender / license plate holder is a complete turn off and negatively impacts the looks of the bike. Do I need to clarify that this is just my opinion :)

Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beer holder. :drink: I like the look of the stock fender better than the abbreviated one. But that is just MY opinion. I am getting a hard-on for a 2012 taillight assembly though.

I am surprised that I haven't seen one offered yet. Ishark posted a link for a "minimizer" kit, but it looks to me like it only does half the job.

I was actually referring to the LED taillight that the 2012 gets vs the incandescent of its predecessor. I do wish they had made the turn sigs LED also, but I guess that would have necessitated a new flasher relay as well. Apparently too much trouble for them.

i don't mind how the stock tail looks, although heavily DOT inspired ...the sad thing is that DOT requires a reflector at the furthest point to the rear or very close to it...i'm obviously not quoting statute....and you may not pass inspection....i may do the CR minimizer to clean it up a little....
just googled pic of the 2012 tail light !!!!! oooooooooo...nice .....hey DD have you checked out the possibility of a retro fit ???

Well of course I have.:smile: You just need to buy the lamp assembly and the pigtail harness that plugs into it. Getting ready for work now, but I'll post part numbers later. Stop and tail are LED, turn sigs are still incandescent. A bit pricey too, but better looking than the aftermarket options I've seen.

    And as promised...
    The lamp assy is 33710-MGE-C31
    The wiring harness is 33708-MGE-D41
Expect to pay over $300 USD for the pair.

    well... I like it enough.

Hey man, letem haters hate. I was actually considering doing this too, since the stock fender is total garbage BS. You actually did a better job than I might. I personally think all customizations should be encouraged. Who knows, something might turn out cool! Anyway, I have the Comp Werks kit and while it did help, I feel like it was way more of a pain in the butt than what little it did for the bikes overall profile. It was a waste of $100 IMO and this alternative is FREE. Good job buddy. Now for the spliff, (cough,) erm, tailpipe!
