    Just got this yesterday!
I bought it from a good friend who is anal about care and maintenance. It has just over 20k miles on it, and all service is up to date.
What a great bike. It is already my favorite bike. All I can say is wow!

I do use all my bikes for commuting to work, and would love to have a rack to put a top case on. Can anyone here point me to a good source?

Welcome, that's one good looking bike. Can't help you with the rack, but they are a helpful bunch here (so long as you don't mention oil, or text whilst you are riding) so I'm sure someone will sort you out.

I remember someone made a rack for a top case that sits in the pillion seat area that would work. Search over at VFRD.

Great bike, and you should be very pleased with it. The gen 4 has all the performance, reliability, and ease of maintenance that later, heavier, vastly more complex (FI, VTEK) later models lack.

Beautiful exhaust, but i'd quibble with how far it sticks out back. Maybe shortening one piece or another would bring the can forward a bit.

Thanks for the compliments. I am quite happy with it so far.

I may be replacing the exhaust with a low-mount so I can put my HB side case mounts on it. Those side case mounts, and a replacement low-mount exhaust are going to be salty, so for now, I'll ride it as it is.

You may have done it already, but if you haven't lowered the exhaust, I would say not to, I'm switching mine to the other side or chopping it short because I want to show off the SSSW. A lot of people love the look of it and it's covered by the exhaust :(

I've already lowered it (and have the high-mount mid-pipe and TB can available for sale).

Due to having very little free time, most of my riding is commuting to and from work, and running errands (which, because we live in the country, always involves rural roads), thus I need luggage capability on this bike, or I would always end up taking one of my other bikes which can carry cargo.

While I agree that the high exhaust shows off the SSSW, with the low exhaust, my VFR is way more useful to me, and I have a lot more opportunity to ride it.

I can't believe I missed this thread back in August. Your bike looks great for the year and the mileage is low. It's always a bonus too when you know the history of a bike. I agree that the aftermarket exhaust seems to stick out the back too much. It actually looks out of place on the bike. Do you have any pictures of the replacment low mount exhaust that you put on? I'd also like to see what you've done as far as the rack / luggage goes. Great find.

I found a good deal on a Two Brother's system off Amazon ($329). Here is a close up of it:

I already had Hepco Becker top and side cases for my other bikes, 30L Junior side cases, 40L Junior top case (not pictured), and a 50L Journey top case. The Juniors are way better, I'll be replacing the 50L Journey with a 45L or 55L Junior. So, I searched high & low until I found a US distributor that could get me the racks for my VFR. Most distributors didn't have them for a bike this old. I got them from motomachines.com. As it is, they had to special order them from Germany.

Wow. As a 4th GEN owner, I have to say that is the best looking luggage setup for these bikes I've seen. Thank you for posting.

Agreed. That low mount exhaust looks ten times better too.
