Reaching out for help... I am having a binding issue with the clutch after i pulled apart the clutch assembly to replace the broken spring #17. After putting everything back together put oil in and started the bike and let her warm up, i was ready for a test ride.. pulled in the clutch as soon as i put it into first gear it clunked forward and died, put it up on the center stand started the bike put in in first (cluncked into first) pulled the clutch in and applied the back brake and it died again. the clutch is not disingaging pulled side cover off when i pull in the clutch lever i can see the pressure plate disingaging the clutch discs , but something is binging up. i have completely pull the clutch apart and as i assembly everything seems to be ok until i install and torque the locknut.

Check the cross rod from the slave cylinder to clutch that goes thru the engine. It may be hung up and your not actually activating the clutch pack. Check first then get back to us.

maybe the replaced spring is stronger than others, causing the plate assembly to get cocked sideways in the basket ?????

grooves in the basket fingers can be filed out and will give better release action.

Where are your looking to get spring #17? I've looked at fiche and book. Fiche #17 is a nut and book has nothing. Do you have a factory manual? The spring you are talking is it the round conical disk #14 in fiche?

Are the washers behind it? Are you sure you have the one way clutch in correct that's behind the washers? Sounds like clutch is dragging. If the one way clutch assy is in backwards that might do it. ?

Replaced Spring#17 in the drumshift linkage, sorry for the confusion. that is why i had to disassemble down to the oil pump drive to get to the linkage. Before i took it apart clutch was working fine, no issues.
I have installed and removed the clutch a bunch of times with no luck. the one way is installed correct it turns clockwise freely, its when i have it all together and start to ttighten the lock nut that is when it binds locks up.
