OK guys----- Heres the question. How many miles do you put on your air filters before changing ? Dont live around alot of dust and keep my bike in a garage. So, is it really worth getting say---a K&N instead of a OEM filter? and what if any out there are worth the $$$$$$$. Thanks

I change mine about every 15k miles. I personally don't like K&N filters and usually buy EMGO aftermarket filters that look identical to OEM filters. You can find them on Ebay and Amazon for around $25. The part number is below and should work for 5th and 6th Gen VFRs

    EMGO # 12-91170

I have a K&N and continue to use it only because I have the oil. I am sorry I bought it. Not that it soesn't work. But if you clean your filter, your bike is down depending on the weather, sometimes a day. I don't like that. I would stick with the OEM. Unless you are putting on extreme mileage, really, is the cost of OEM that prohibitive?

Well mine came with the k&n but if given a choice I would probably buy aggood foam filter. I may still now that I think about it. In the dirt world twin air is known to be very good so I would look to get one of those and clean it and oil it as needed.

Well the BMC filter bit the dust. I guess they're not lifetime filters like kn, more like 3 years/30,000 miles, tops. Piece of shit to be honest. Everything was falling apart on it. Stay away from these. I may pick up a kn. does anyone have a bike master? I can't find any pictures of them for the lime of me.

The last K&N I bought for my bike was around 1985. I've put 60000 miles and 27 years on it. Still working like it's supposed to. I wash and oil it every so often. So that may give you some idea how long your filter will last with proper care and feeding. Oh yea the inside of my carbs still stay very clean.
