I've been slowly acquiring everything needed to update the suspension on my VFR. 2005 R1 wheel, brakes, forks, etc. etc. Racetech springs, new seals, fender, JDM rear shock, etc. etc. I got the wheel powdercoated, fender painted, just waiting for the new HEL SS brake lines to arrive and then.........................I find out last week I'm deploying to Bahrain for 7 months in Jan. I'll be back home August 15th 2013. :frusty:

So, I decided to shelve everything until I get back. I'd rather ride than wrench and rush to get it all together only to mess up along the way. Here's what all the goodies look like on the floor though.

Until next fall, I'll be squinting at my bike trying to envision the new front end.

Can you see it on there? me neither.

Thanks for the pics. My new clip ons are in the bottom of my picture still in the box. I bought some DanMoto's off ebay. They looked like they could give me the most rise and adjustability.

    Update!!! Goodies installed

On monday the weatherman said this week was going to be shitty. Cold and rainy so no riding for me. I decided to go ahead and install everything. I couldn't just sit here and not wrench on the bike. New Years Day the Jamie Daugherty shock went in. Didn't take to long. Thursday morning I started with the front end. Finished today (Friday) around 1pm. Pretty easy install actually. I took my time and checked everything twice.

Rode about 40 miles today and I must say. Money well spent. The brakes are stupendous!!! Not a bad initial bite but very powerful and progressive. Suspension? Feels like a completely different bike. I didn't push it through the twisty bits due to not knowing exactly what it would do and the front tire is brand new and it's only in the 40's out. What I did notice is that initial tip in was effortless but it didn't fall through the turn. It would hold a line very well. With the stock suspension it took a lil more effort to initiate the turn and even more to flick it back up.

Of course, adjustments will be necassary. I have the front set very soft right now and the forks are flush with the top triple. I think I'll be raising them up a few mm. On the highway the front end felt a lil to light for me. Anyway, the important stuff. PICS!!!!!!!!!

Well Done. Funny Honda never saw the light with adding better suspension, especially since the suspension on the 600rr/ f4i is so close. just be a swap off the shelf. What kind of hassle was it to match bearings for the triples? Best of on your tour, in that I thank you.

No hassle at all, bearings are the same size as the VFR. You'd be suprised at how much stuff Mother Honda shared from bike to bike. Even the ignition bolts were the same.
