I haven't notice any such vibration on mine and I have put over 100,000 miles on my 06. As far as what grade of fuel to use, start with the 86 as mentioned in the manual. The common thought here is that the higher octane fuels do nothing to improve the performance or fuel economy. So if your bike is running fine with the 86, why would you spend the extra $ for the higher grade fuel if there is no benefit. Run a couple tanks of the 86, then by all means run the next higher octane. If you don't see an improvement there, I doubt you will see any at a higher octane yet. But if you wish, I don't think it will hurt to try a couple tanks of that as well.

Firstly - welcome to the madhouse.

If the bike has been laid up for ages then the tyre(tire) will have lost pressure and may have developed flat spots. If the roadholding feels off and vibration continues, you may find its down to the tyres, which once deformed develop a memory which will never entirely go away.

As for the ABS light coming on - its part of the start up safety check, basically the light coming on shows that the system is ready for use and once you cross 8mph? it should go out and stay out. If it fails to light up when you first switch the bike on, or if it comes on any time else, you should have the system checked. But what you describe is the system working normally.

As far as I am aware VFRs bikes do not have a battery tender connection fitted as a standard by the factory.

If you find the bars are too low, and end up with painful wrists on longer runs, then search on here for information on Helibars.

PS As you will soon find out, RED is the fastest.

Thanks Skimad4X4. I agree with you on red being the fastest color and that is why 95% of my bikes that I had were red and the remaining 5% had some sort of red colour(color) :)

Thanks for the pointers on the tires. That was the whole reason why I took the bike in for a 'mini' service instead of just a oil change. The mini service should go over the entire bike and point anything.

I will schedule an appointment with another shop(independent mechanic) to go over the bike and will get the air filter changed(which I assuming is 7 years old). Darn, these filters are expensive.

The Beemers with ABS do this too, it must be a self check that has to happen before the system decides that all is well. After all, there isn't a wheel speed signal when you are siting still so it can't really be sure till it moves. Funny that cars don't do this too. I guess they inhibit the fault code till after the readiness check is completed.

If you sign up on the Honda Owners Link, it will tell you if any campaigns are still open. I register all my VFRs there just to be sure.

My 05 vibrates quite a bit more in vtec mode. Just makes it feel like it's going even faster, i guess ;) Mine had a very hard vtec engagement, I've been working on smoothing it out - pcIII, mapping, pair mod. You might look into 'Vibranators' if your handle bars vibrate too much.
