Ok, Ive just joined and hoping to take advantage of some of the experience on this site.

If you read my intro you'll know I ride a Superduke. Great bike, light, flickable and gobs of torque but, and its a big BUT, the motor (for me) runs out of revs too early. I love the torque but just want something a little more revvy.

In saying that the V-twin now has me hooked on the big lumpy engine with character. As I cant afford a Tuono V4R the options as I see it are a Streetfightered VFR750/800 or crossplane R1. They seem to be a good mix between character with higher revving motors.

The VFR's are cheap ($3k-$6k) and have the best sounding engine. But I would want more power, lighter weight and better suspension = lots of money.

The R1 is much more expensive ($12k-$15k) but is ready to roll, ripp off the fairings, add a light and some lower gearing and away we go.

Has anyone here streetfightered a VFR? I dont have a mechanical background but am a quick learner and very humble when it comes to learning so would appreciate any advice.

I'd love something like below. Thanks, Aron.

Alright I've found some great fighters on customfighters, given me lots of good ideas.

I'll be working on my feaso for the VFR or R1 concept when I get back from holis. Hopefully I can justify the time and money :)

I would love to see what you come up with. The biggest issue with the 5th gen I think would be the side mounted radiators. If you could get the 4th gen front mount setup to work, that would be great for a fighter.

Agreed, side mounts pose a big aesthetic problem!

I'll be honest though, the more I learn about these bikes the more I am appreciating them for what they are. I'm going to look at a couple of stockies when I get home. Could be great for my wife and I to do some overnight trips on.

Now that I have a VFR400 race bike I might get rid of the KTM Superduke and just get my thrills on the track!
