Hey there. I recently purchased an '86 VFR700 off of craigslist, and have been lurking the forums for a month now. I took a 6 hour bus ride across the sound (WA state) in order to pick up the old beauty from a guy who lived nearby Port Angeles. After test riding on the spit (Ediz_Hook) I made my purchase ($1100, not sure if an amazing price) and rode 3 cold hours back up to Bellingham, where I live. That was a scary ride, as I had last ridden a bike maybe 9 months previously, and that had ended in a crash.

here she is, looking funny without the front wheel mudguard (fender?) :

    Condition is as follows:

14xxx miles on the odo. Been dropped, beaten up and mucked about with, but still kicking strong. The gas tank has a small rust patch. The right side fairings have cracks and pieces missing. But everything worked enough to keep me alive on my ride home, and that is what counts.

The bike, as I said, was poorly taken care of and I have been giving it all the love I can since it came home. I made a post in the 2nd gen section with some problems I have run into, here. I really want to get this bike into a safe and healthy riding condition, and then maybe pass it on to someone with a more secure financial situation. Or if I'm lucky I get to keep it for a little while longer.

As for me? I'm a 20 year old dude who attends Western Washington University, studying history. I live with 7 other friends in a cramped house just north of bham. I was born and raised in WA.

Not really sure when I started loving the look of 2nd gen VFRs, but I certainly do enjoy the RWB coloring and dear god the lines. . .

Thanks for the read, and if you have any input on those questions I would love a reply. You guys seems like a relaxed bunch that know their stuff.

Nice ride! There's a great vintage rally on Vashon Island not too far from you in late summer -- maybe I'll see her there!
