Hi, my name is Charlie and this is the end of my 50th ride season. I didn't come here because I owned a VFR but rather, because I was researching the overall specs and ran across one thread dealing with top end speed. I do however own a rather modified (mill is 1203) CBR1100XX. I'm a huge fan of the 996 Super Hawk and of course the RC51. In the end, Honda just doesn't break....

OK, here's the line on the XX. My first encounter with an XX was in the southern Cali desert 1998 and at the time I had a Thunderace, which for the time was a sweet ride. I got to ride the XX about 50 miles and couldn't believe how smooth is was at virtually any speed and no big jump from that traditional I4 second hit above 7,000 or more rpm. Wow!!!! I want one of these. Sorry, kids growing up in college and where's the money? Fast forward to May 2009. My grandson and I went to the Victory Polaris dealer to get a plug for his quad and on the way out that 13 year old said hey grandpa look at that.... Sure enough there was a used XX buried in the corner filthy as all get out and looking like it was robbing the salvage yard. Until that day I truly thought owning an XX of my own was dead because Honda stopped importing them in 2003. Well, I talked to the sales guy and pulled the VIN to run it. It came back on a salvaged title. I ended up talking to the owner of the dealership who made me a deal including a 300 miles test ride and 2 new Conti Sport Attack tires. LoL, brought the bike home and took it apart checking everything right down to the wiring harneses and bolt torgue. Everything was as it should be. I later found out why it was salvaged. A tree fell on the back of the bike and crushed the subframe. LOL, no big deal at all. That was at 4,290 miles. By 5,000 miles the engine was pulled, shipped to M&T Racing, bored 4mm with new cams and stroked 2. Yup, we just got real serious. I took everything off I didn't need and got the bike down to 492 wet with 183.1 rwhp and 101 lbft of torque on a Factory Pro dyno. The end result of all this is the bike you see now. After 3 years it is running to perfection with just under 30,000 miles on it. Oh, the original owner.... I talked to the guy at a rally about 4 months after I bought the XX. He sold it because it scared him.... Go figure he bought a Victory 8 Ball. As far as selling it goes, that Harley and FZ6 that bed with it in the garage will go long before my XX...

Funny you should ask. I did this sound thing with my phone to send to a ride buddy and it overmodulated that phone so bad it wasn't worth sending. I can however tell you that using the SAE J2825 test the bike has a dba of 107 at 3,000 rpm. It gets much louder when it hits like 5,000 and at the redline you will not be able to hear the music from those earbuds you wear...lol Lucky for me I don't live in Cali were the noise limits are like 96 dba and CARB (California Air Resource Board) is all over you folks to the point in 2013 you folks are screwed......... Good Luck

Funny thing was that before I started working on Hondas, I wanted a black-bird seriously. I had to work on one of the (1999?) FI bikes and after I peeled all the tuper-ware body work away from it, was un-impressed with the bike as a whole. Bear-in-mind, I still owned my VFR. Basically, a Zed X 11 was a better designed bike IMHO and went faster too.

Had the opportunity to ride a co-workers 100,000 mile black-turd a while back. I checked tyre pressure and took it on a spin. He commented that the gas gauge was low compared to what he turned the bike over to me with. I reported back to him, that his bike was fairly tight, with the mileage it had. Bike went up to 165 or so, much faster than my Viffer mind you. Told hime that my right hand got numb.

Point is, if you got a hard on for the DOS EXXES, why dont you go on the appropriate web page for them bikes? Not some Vee-Four forum?

I used to like Hondas, now, I dont really like anything. Thats just me though...

Well, you must need some help because if your hand went numb on a bike that virtually has no vibration at all maybe your right extremity has carpal tunnel. Yes, 100,000 miles is nothing for an XX and I know people that have gone that 100,000 miles and sold the bike only to get a newer model with fewer miles. As far as the hard on goes I won't even qualify that with an answer and trust me, you need to get a life!!!!! What i'm doing here is quite literally non of your business. Nuff said.....
