This is my first post on the site, and I've been lurking for quite a while...this is only because I can usually find my issue without asking questions.

I drained the oil out of my 2007 and there is still oil in the sight glass. Like over the mark full of oil. Filter is off, plug is out, and on it's center stand....what's the deal?

Got any pics? From Where did you drain the oil?
Did it seem like you dropped 3 quarts?

drained from the plug on the bottom of the pan, then from the filter. It looked like about 2 quarts came out. [IMG]

That just looks like film on the sight glass. If there was used oil in there you wouldnt be seeng through it.
Jus ttkae your time replacing the oil. Dont over fill. But if you do there is a way to get it out.

This is good to know, I saw a couple of posts about oil sight glass fogging. Wanted to make sure I didn't miss a special bolt or have to do some trick with the oil pump. Someone recommended seafoam if I remember right. Guess I'll give it a shot next oil change.

If you you used the 17mm bolt n the bottom of the pan and lots of oil came out and there was a crush washer on thst bolt then yer good.

    To prevent over fillng
Put in to bottom line. Start Let run for 15 mins or so (basically get to operating temp) then let it sit for 30 mns. Then top off.

Personally, I wouldnt run seafoam through my oil even tho it is a listed use on the contaner. Just personal preference.

Same here I would only use additives when there is a need for them. I have a bike I'm working on that has sat for 5 years and I may put some through the fuel system after I have cleaned everything that I can. But for a good running bike no way.
