When in nuetral i have full rpm range but when in gear can only get like half the rpm wut do u guys think it might be?
When did the problem begin ? A good first item to check is looking for water in your fuel by draining the fuel tank entirely into a glass container, where any water will form a layer visible below the gasoline. Replace with fresh fuel. If you drain the float bowls, you can often spot spherical globs in the fuel if there is water in the system. Does the bike idle Ok ?? Your carbs may need attention, but check for sparks on all plugs first.
not running on all cylinders would do the same. easier than checking for spark might be to check header temperatures with an infrared thermometer.
OH, yeah, like those grow on trees, huh ??:crazy:otstir: I just recently had a problem with water in my Hawk's tank, and the bike would start and idle but not rev in any gear. Just sayin' i'm just sayin'.
i was able to get the front tire to lift slightly off the ground in first 2 weekends ago then last weekend when riding it over to my mechs house just around the corner i only was able to get half the rpm range . tank was completely emptied to get the old gas out when i bought the bike. now that i have the clutch master cylinder working againg it revs fine in nuetral and when clutch is in just not in gear and yes it has fresh gas
Does it run rough? When it doesn't rev up, does it cut out or just not pull the rpm under load? If it runs rough and/or cuts out I would think carbs. But if it seems to run okay, just won't pull the rpms under load, it's not running on all cylinders. More details would help with some kind of diagnosis.
No picks yet but heres the funny thing after sitting a week waiting to be able to work on it again i have the rpms back when in gear now
Sounds like the pilot jets were plugged. Clean fuel and some running may have cleaned them out. Hey, could happen.
Its had fresh clean fuel in it . It ran great the first time it fired up . The second weekend i fired it up it ran like i said before . When fired up today it had the rpms back and was finally able the spin the tire and get it up to 70 only cause didnt put helmet on for speedometer test to make sure it wrkd
So the problem came back yesterday so today i pulled the air box off and covered each carb by hand only the rear carbs changed the idle nothing changed when the front two were covered so i took the carbs off and opend the bowls took out the two jets in each carb only one was pluged and the funny thing is it was one of the back carbs now that its all back together bike has twice the power and can 12k rpm now
