I want to get a new set of farings for my old beat up 2k VFR. I want to get something with graphics and a different color. Will I need to get my bike title modified??? If I do not get the color of the bike changed on the title and the bike is properly registered, will I get ticketed if stopped. The VIN number is the actual identifier. Would you buy a used bike if it had the correct VIN from the title but was a different color?

Best bet on an answer would be in the NY vehicle code. Some dudes carry a list of oddball regs on thier bikes for cops who are trying to make quota no matter what.

People paint their bikes all the time - I've never heard of it being an issue at all. Check with the DMV if you are concerned. As far as resale, if it looks good it will enhance the bike, if you do a bad rattle-can job with drips and stuff expect it will not help you at resale time.
