Hi there. Is anyone aware of any aftermarket manufacturers of gear shift levers for a 2000 VFR800 Interceptor? The only one that I have been able to find is the standard OEM Honda lever. I have looked on bike bandit and have not been able to identify one. Also, does anyone know if any other Honda model clutch lever is compatible with the splines on the 800?

    Thank you

Looks like our 2000's have basically the same kind of shift lever as dirtbikes of the era. Honda uses common parts where possible, so I would not be surprised to find that the end of the gear shaft has the same spline pattern across lots of shifters for different bikes. I would check CycleGear or any other local bike shop and compare my shifter to what they have on hand for dirt bikes.

Seek out the OEM part # for your bike and cross reference. The question might be what is "wrong" with OEM? As Jose' points out a shift lever is one of those "if it ain't busted, don't fix it", items.

If you wear a size 16 shoe we won't snitch you out.

Mine is bent from a drop and I was told dont bend it back because it will break it. The OEM one at the local dealer is $50 and I figured for that much I could get a red one to match my bike. Just cant seem to find any except for the ones on ebay for dirt bikes.

Ten bucks sez that your friendly Honda dealer is telling you your lever can't be fixed and has a handy dandy new one in stock with your name on it.

Then again if you really must have a red one, PM the "Stoshman". who has a VFR of many colors.. He's a Yankee but a good one..

    My BS alarm is beeping.
Put it in a vice, get some heat on it and it should bend back.

He may have one of those rare plastic shift levers sought by collectors the world over. I thought they were all gone. This Honda dealer is probably a collector. ;)

cannot count how many times I've bent the lever back on my DR650. The bike doesn't leave the garage without falling over in the dirt and self adjusting the lever.

In my experience, they can be bent a little without worry.

As for the DR, I keep a spare shift lever tied to the frame with hose clamps.

I hope this dealer doesn't stick this dude for another fifty bucks for a "proper" installation. BTW, I mean the gearshift lever for all you filthy minded perverts out there.
