    Hello,

    I have a little issue with my 2002 6gen VFR w/o ABS.

I took it from CA to Germany with me and it wont start anymore.

We checked all the sensors and relays. We traced the problem down to the ignition switch and or ECU.

Does anybody know what voltage to measure at the pink wire at the ignition switch?
Or what peak to detect when the key is turned from off to on? (of course against ground)

My bike is sitting at the Honda dealer in Germany and they don't have that wire on German versions.

It would be great if someone on here can help.

    Thanks for your help.

    We are desperate ...

    Hi Crusty,

yep all checked. We even put a different ECU (German version) on the bike but had to use the ignition of the German bike as well.
Because Honda made different ignition switches for Germany and US model. The German Model doesn't even have that pink wire.
With that she started right up.

Put a new US version ECU on the bike --> didn't work

It all happened after my dad put in the battery wrong (+/-) switched -> shorted :(

    Things done:
checked all connections at the ECU
measured w/ oscilloscope all connections according to Honda specs (but differences between German and US model)

So we narrowed it down to the ignition switch. and that pink wire. ...

Looking at the wiring schematic, the pink wire goes from the ignition switch to the ecu. It also (maybe in the ignition switch itself) goes thru a diode to the red with blue strip wire. If i'm reading this right, the pink wire should make contact with the red with blue strip wire with ignition off and no contact when on. Diode could have been burned out when battery was hooked up wrong. Wish I could post up a pic of schematic.
