I knew it would happen, it had to happen & it did happen yesterday - my starter system failed on my 32,000k old 1997 VFR 750

The reg has already been replaced but the starter relay has gone - bump starts & runs ok, 13 volts across the battery at idle, so I am guessing it is the solenoid/relay (would you folk agree or have I missed something ?)

Any tips on replacing the starter relay & solenoid - any preferred aftermarket ones or other Honda substitutes that work better & fail less often ?

    Your feedback & experiences appreciated

starter relay/solenoid replacement for 4th Gen

Need to replace the starter solenoid/relay for my 4th gen - any tips on brands that people have used - aftermarket or original Honda ones, any tips on the names of people who can supply aftermarket ones

Battery & charging system still seems ok (13volts across the battery when idling, bump starts ok & runs ok, no breakdown under power that is indicative of a dieing battery etc etc)

Any help and comments greatly appreciated

I merged your two threads. Troubleshooting and technical advice for the same issue gets messy for the gurus on the forum when it's spread across two different threads.

best of luck - we're here to help
