    Hello All,

I purchased a Vista Cruise universal cruise control for my 2010 vfr1200, and was totally not happy with it. It took some modification of the cruise control bracket to wedge it in there, it took up too much room on the throttle grip, and worst of all, it was too large in diameter so it wouldn't hold the throttle tight enough to even work as advertised no matter how i adjusted it. I removed it immediately.

Anybody else got any ideas? I wasted $35, need to spend my next $$ more wisely!

Try emailing customer care at the address on the package. In my experience, they are pretty good and responsive. They once sent me thinner filler strips because the ones they supplied with the kit didn't work. I was surprised at how quickly they got back to me. It's worth a try

here is my solution (like UnSafe Dave) is this
    [IMG]

    food for thought..

With my foam grips it never held the throttle just right. So with this zip-tie (yes its redneck) im able to up the TQ on the cruse control. It takes some effort to enable but one set i good. I dont use it all the time, more so when I know im going to be holding steady speed for 10min plus.

ALSO those handle bar weights inside the tubes from HONDA are tuned for our bike. They are designed like that for a reason.
every Weighted throttle control requires removal of the OEM unit. no dice for me.

If some one made a 'screw in' unit that still used the OEM in bar weights or a unit similar to Harley Davidson. Id be all over it.

Did you try installing the little rubber band that came with the Go-Cruise? It helped a noticeable amount on mine.

I use the Go Cruise which is pictured in ChadC's photo above. I use the silicone ring that came with it and it works perfect. I don't need the zip-tie because my Go Cruise sits on the OEM grip.

    $20-$23 shipped. It's on Ebay.

My Throttlemiester came with new bar weights AND the end pieces themselves are even heavier than he stock units. I put one on my 5th gen and it did not change the vibes and if anything it got better. Food for thought....

I understand, but the 5th gen and 7th gen bikes are different creatures. my hypothesis is not about how much weight per say, but about tuning.
It was described to me that our handle bars are not unlike a bell. with vibrations starting at the triple tree and resonating out to the ends.

I recall reading a post of a Throttlemister review ( I cant recall if here of the other VFR forum) on a 7th gen, and the person said they liked it but it did have more vibration than the OEM. That was not a big deal to them.. For me it is.
granted that was on the internet as as we all know everyting is 100% accurate on the interwebs.

    Hazardous Dave,
yea I did try the rubber bit but no joy. I tried the 3/4 on the OEM and the 1" (over the foam). all no joy.
Granted im only using this when the throttle is cracked open 5%. very sensitive, smallest movement affects MPH in 6th gear.

perhaps im asking too much than what ti was designed for. I got spoiled with the Harley Davidson unit. I could 'Flick' it with my thumb and it was locked (not dangerously tho)

    cheers

Embarassing to admit ?? On an interstate ride, i twist up the idle adjustment screw to use as a cruise control. I'm an idiot ?? Maybe.

I've had the throttlemeister and found it awkward to use as it took two hands to set. I couldn't hold a steady speed and twist the end of the bar to lock the throttle so I used my left hand to hold the throttle while setting the meister with my right hand. Not the best set up if you ask me.

I also had fun with the vista cruise. It took quite a bit of customization to get it to fit well and function but once I had it sorted out it is superb.

+1 on both counts. I find the Throttlemeister to be awkward to use. But have a Vista Cruise on my 125 and have used it for thousands of miles with great results. They usually do take a little filing and fiddling to get right, but sure get the job done once set up. Better than the Go-Cruise, but the Go-cruise is a ten second install with no mods. Good enough for now.

Sorry Billy, but neither one carries the Go Cruise, and I think I paid double that on Ebay. But thanks for stopping by.
    Hugs and kissies.

If you do not want to spend money, the go cruise can be replicated with half a coathanger + pliers and some heat shrink tubing, or tape.

    I did that for years. Now I can actually spare the twenty bucks and the GC looks far less cheezy, although no more effective. In fact, the friend who told me about the Go Cruise said "You won't believe this, but somebody patented your coat hanger cruise control!" ;-}

Let's really go elcheapo.. a squirt of silicone, a couple of bamboo skewers, duct tape all wrapped in some of that faux carbon fibre wrapping paper to fool the harleydoods.

I put a VistaCruise on mine. Works awesome. I did monkey with it a bit, because I bought a Yamaha version on the cheap. My solution was to sand the cruise control a bit thinner (didn't want to remove/ruin the grip) and secure with a bent piece of heavy wire.
