Was just curiuos how often (miles) everyone is changing their oil?

I picked up a 6th generation and the owners manual doesn't tell me the intervals for oil changes. Done a few searches and what I found was either 6k or 8k! So which is it?

Since we have a limited riding season here in NY, I change my oil during the winter using a full synthetic and run it the entire summer. That is usually no more than 4K miles.

I usually change mine every 5K miles. Just makes it easy to remember. I did change it at 2500 mile interval this summer because I was riding every day in over 100 degree tempts. and the shifting started to not feel as smooth. Using the standard Honda oil.

Every 5000km for me. I use Rotella T6, shifting feels like a hot knife through butter now :)

Owners manual say every 8,000 miles. I probably go between 5K and 7K.

IU have been changing mine every 10,000km (6213.71 miles) on the tens. Very easy to remember this mileage. If I were in the US, I would probably do the changes every 5K miles on the fives. Again, easy to remember. I think my manual said to change every 12,000 km but for the sake f a coulple thousand km, i chose to do the very 10K. BTW. I have 100,000 miles on mine now and have followed this sincce it was new (Aug 2006). It works for me.

Yeah I think I'll go wth 5k as it's easier to remember than anything else.

I have not been impressed with the blocky and notchy shifting of my VFR since taking ownership and riding it across 3 states and 1500 miles last weekend. Going to try Shell Rotella and see if that helps it's shifting.

More people complain about the throttle response at low RPM's vs. the shifting. Try switching oil, and see if it works for you.

Randy - considering you live in Canada and have a limited riding season, that kind of mileage is impressive. I'm guessing that you literally ride year round. I live in NY and am hesitant to ride once it dips below freezing due to black ice.

I did ride year round. If there was no snow, I rode to and from work every day for a 100 mile round trip, mostly freeway. Got caught in the snow a couple times but we are a little milder here. Snow seldomly sticks to the road. I have gotten home with a shield of ice forming on my chest from freezing rain. That was kinda neat but damned cold. Now that I am retired, I doubt I will be riding in that weather....intentionally anyways.

Blck ice is a not too distant problem. They spray our roads with a salt brine and it works great.
