Anyone found a fender eliminator that suits Australia plates and dosnt attract attention to much from police to suit a VFR800 2012. I heard here in SA that police are able to slap a defect on your bike if you have a fender elimination as the stock standard ones are classified as a Mudflat . Been searching for some on ebay they seam to have the plate located to fair in between the exhausts etc.

There's a built in fender eliminator in the stock rear fender - it's the support bracket...

Goldy, as an accredited ADR compliance engineer, I can tell you straight: eliminating your fender will make your bike illegal everywhere in Australia. If you don't want police attention, don't do it (riding a bike is enough of a police magnet in Australia as it is)! If you do want police attention, defect notices, getting pulled over for no particular reason, etc, then go ahead and try your luck!

ftp..lol...aussie is much like USA in that you "probably" have a right to travel but soon as you register and "ask" for the permission to "drive" ( a commercial thing in law) then you have given up the right for a benefit and have to obey the rules for commercial drivers. I do not use plates, nor register, nor anything. I travel and so they do not know who I am . If they try to stop me...well...good luck with that rotfl I fyou don't exercise your rights then you do not have any..:( Most people do ot understand their rights in LAW which is different than legal. Most don't care they just want to be left alone, play by the rules right? Well..how has that worked so far we ALL have runaway govt that is tyrannical, eventually we all have to make a stand. I lost everything in a divorce, house, cars, kids so I am riding rouge..Not for everyone but the more people use their rights the more police get educated and learn they cannot just DEMAND we have to be "drivers" when FREE men can travel, as they see fit. But in any case...sorry to blow up your thread and I would simply do what you want ( inregards to YOUR bikes rear end ) and realise not every cop is gonna pull you over (some have better things to do) and when they do "play stupid" and he'll either let you go or ticket you, right? so no big deal..

002.jpg Have to agree with you there sadly we use to have a Law That the police could only be pulled you over with due cause eg mistake while driving such as failing to signal as a example, now they can pull anyone over without reason anytime, One buy one we are losing our rights and they use the same old spin (It you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear) Blah blah blah bullshit. End of the day your right just want to be left alone. I'm not changing it until I unless I get a ticket. They are big on number plates here be hidden for speed cameras think its a $500 fine if your plate cant be read, Its a standard factory bracket and in the original position and should be fine.

Back to the bracket lol, if you do the mod it pays to give the bracket a light spray of paint, the factory paint is abit average and lightly coated. Also when you replace the mounting bolts it might pay to replace them with stainless bolts and use a nyloc nut to stop them rusting etc.

This is interesting....you must be part of "We The People" movement as I had a friend in that a couple decades ago. He didn't have a state issued license, he had his "We The People" license. He did not pay taxes, register his car, pay insurance, etc.....and when I asked him who pays for the infastructure that he walks/drives/travels on, he would never have a meaninful response....only that WE (people) were owed, and I (or others not in We The People) were sheep for paying taxes and listening to big gov. He REALLY tried hard to get me to join....had others talk to me....etc, but I brushed it off as too many unanswered questions and trouble. There are a multitude of questions to be asked, many cannot be answered (or I know how they may be) so I will not ask them. I do however have a few questions for you though.

So, you think that driving tests are for the birds, and drinking and driving (or on drugs), being too young, being too old, is acceptable if you are a FREE person and need to travel? I ask this because you seem to think that an officer has no reason to ever pull you over. In that logic, we start to spiral slowly but surely into anarchy, and it the day may come where a man can come over and kill everyone you know, and then just go eat a cheeseburger and fries. Yes, I am using an outrageous example, but I aim to see your repsonses.

Do you carry insurance, or medical incase you are in an accident and hurt yourself or someone else? If you do not carry it, how do you justify paying for the damages/injuries that you cause to others?

If a LEO attempts to pull you over, I am assuming you will run, and you will endanger (and/or possiby injure/kill) innocent bystanders.....how do you cope with that scenario? Please don't tell me you will do the world's slowest police chase at 5MPH either! LOL

Before you think I love BIG GOV....I do not. I agree with limited government, I don't like Obamacare, and I don't like paying taxes when my money gets given away to terrorist (or suspected) regimes in far away places or to replace a $1000 dollar toliet seat. I also do not like the idea of going to jail for tax evasion, putting my family in danger (running from LEO), having gov (and some private enterprise) lock up everything that am and stand for making it hard just to even work and buy a gallon of milk at the store.

Sorry for diverting from your topic goldy.

IMO it's a lesser of many evils... In 20+ years of riding, I've never been pulled over for a fender eliminator - the stories are out there, I've ridden the spurs on 'blitz' weekends, been pulled up and perhaps due to having a courteous attitude, been left alone for fender eliminator and loud aftermarket pipes... Also been pulled in for RBT + roadworthy inspection and never been done for mods there either...

Doesn't mean it won't happen but it's only a matter of refitting the fender (which is in NO WAY damaged during removal) and presenting for inspection...

I Hope you don't get nabbed. Around Vic, the police are very strict on fender eliminators, just in case a big nasty rock comes up and kills a "poor innocent kitten"...

Sorry: That was a Netrider in-joke... "Every time you ride a motorbike, God kills a kitten"... Evolved to "sacrificed kittens to the motorcycling gods today"... The faster you ride in the twisties, the more kittens are sacrificed to the motorcycling gods.

Hmmm... Perhaps the kittens thing should be spread worldwide...

Anyway, I've digressed... If your rear fender doesn't surround at least "45 degrees" backward from a vertical line through the axle (with a 40kg rider on board), it's likely to draw attention from the cops.

Don't get me wrong, I like nice clean tail lines (there's a CBR954 at work with a nice fender elimination, and it looks sweet  ). Just trying to let you know what you'll get nabbed for.

Meh. I've had fender eliminators/cut the mudflap off all of my bikes; never had any problems with the popo. Even with my Hayabusa, the only time I got pulled over was when a cop was trying to give me a ticket for having a GoPro on my helmet (and I didn't get fined for that, either!)

I wanted to be rid of the mudflap on my VFR so I just unbolted it and used the mounting bracket to attach my plate.

(((So, you think that driving tests are for the birds,)))

Would you pose this question if the govt wanted to have tests for chainsaw operation? lol
---How about condom application and use? Since when does some man, don't care who he is, get the right to validate my rights or abilities?

Cager driver tests are ridiculas(useless) and the world has not ended, now has it?

Most people even if they cannot drive don't go out and say,"Yeehaw..pedal to the metal." The ones who cannot drive are usually a bit timid or weak and although they MAY cause an accident, they are going to most likely be damn sure the don't wreck because.....?
They will get hurt.it is basic self preservation.---

    .(((..drinking, young, old etc)))

    are all secondary to rights.

Either you have rights UNTIL a REAL crime is commited or you do not have rights.(sucks I know, I have had friends killed by drunk drivers)
But it is really that simple there is no gray area, nor should their be.
People are not children..and police are def not mature enough to be my daddy, that is for sure. Not to knock police, as I have had a couple friends who were police. But the would say that it is not the brightest picked but the most willing to follow orders and not think too much about the job.

(((I ask this because you seem to think that an officer has no reason to ever pull you over. )))

Police are private for hire city security officers, protecting charter or political subdivisions of govt for people who are not in a republican form of governance, most of the time...they have the right to assume your one of theirs until YOU speak, as a man and notice them that your not in contract with them.

...while Sheriffs are actually the lawful men or women who protect real rights.

For those that are "legal drivers" which is a commercial term, for commercial persons in legal contemplation then yes he has every right for HIS people , under his chartered govt or corporation."

But under law he is limited by title 18 @ 241, whereas my rights ( as long as I am NOT a driver) but a lawful traveler cannot be taken by his police power, minus a warrant or a real crime, committed by me.

NO, they are NOT the same thing. Driver is determined by federal law NOT state law AND motor vehicle is not the same thing as a simple car or truck. A commercial vehicle or driver is a "for profit" transit vehicle of persons or cargo.

If I have commited no crime there is nothing to discuss.
he is under assumption and I simply correct him by not contracting with him and noticing hem of my lawful standing.

I actually pull over and stand in my jursidiction, most of the time, no need to run but IF i decided to NOT stop, I would not flee, fast, as to cause an accident but simply go off road...he is welcome to follow.Doubtful he will.
The land is 9/10ths off road...gotta luv that aspect ;)

It is not my job to pull over and explain to him I have rights and although he can assume I am a commercial "person" under his jursidiction, I am not by law.
I have no contract with any city or govt entity nor do I have to by law.

I routinely do pull over and they respect me for knowing the law, after they try to bully me like they do everyone else. I simply threaten them with a title 18 lawsuit and tell them I have 5000 hours studing and applying the law. your move but I doubt the city will defend yo uin a private lawsuit, plus the loss of job, public exposure etc.. They usually back off..way off..:)

So far, no arrest and I am always allowed to be on my way.
i have blacks law, the entire us code on my pc and use it...lol

(((In that logic, we start to spiral slowly but surely into anarchy,)))

Anarchy...haha..your using the fear/anarchy argument which shows you do not understand what anarchy really is. The fable of chaos is not anarchy. You born free, that is anarchy. Self government. Hurt no one or their property-libertarianism, then the rest of political or religious sects follow down to total fascism (today with over 600,000 legal-codes=color of law, not real law) which is far, far worse than anarchy I assure you.

(((and it the day may come where a man can come over and kill everyone you know, and then just go eat a cheeseburger and fries.)))

A man could do that today with the chainsaw, now couldn't he, we'd better pass another law to regulate it." :)
Why people are free....it's anarchy out there without law..wild chainsaw Constitutionalist everywhere..;) (sarcasm) --

(((Do you carry insurance, or medical incase you are in an accident and hurt yourself or someone else?
If you do not carry it, how do you justify paying for the damages/injuries that you cause to others?))))

--I ride a bike "specifically so that I do not have the accountability of totaling someones car or hurting them. If I cause any damage on my bike, I have the funds to pay for any damages, which would most likely be less that a $1000 in most cases, as I am a safe driver. If they hit me, then I dont have to worry about paying now do i?
So my choice to ride a bike IS predicated on my willingness to be accountable for my own actions. with the foresight of cost for the unseen future.

(((If a LEO attempts to pull you over, I am assuming you will run, and you will endanger (and/or possiby injure/kill) innocent bystanders.....)))

LEO is only the Sheriff, but a PPE- Private Policy enforcer( cop) well you unever know who is behind you with blue lights huh?, So it is always a good idea to pull over to see what they matter is..as a rule.
But again I am not involved in commecial driving. it is a choice.

Did you hear abouT the N.Y. shooter? He was shot 20 somthing times, at POINT BLANK range by N.Y. Police (because of their trained fear terrorist b.s. mentality) and ended up injuring about12 bystanders.

life is wild why is it ok for a police to hurt someone in the line of duty and actually be breaking the Constitutional rights but those who guard their Constitutional rights , if they hurt someone, they are seen as "those people" who want freedom at all cost?See? See-they will say.

Did you uknow that the Missouri shooting of police officers was a framed thing? That it is all a fraud and yet they used it to frame Constitutionalists as crazies? Proven with video taped evidence no doubt.
It was a mexican mob hit in retaliation to the Police chiefs son harming one of their people on a previous road side stop.

But they killed the man & son,(Jerry cain-I think was his name) as they were local and teaching people the truth of law. IT was a setup, set off and media propaganda thing. Look it up on you tube.
so the whole Freedom liberty Constitutionalist are crazies & want to go back to the wild west (life would be anarchy if we had our rights and no police state-fear thing) is B.S.

The police are the terorist by and large because???They do not KNOW the LAW, they operate under commercial policies to protect the corporations, not YOU, the individual.
Fact. They have NO responsibility to protect the individual, only the sheriff can do this and he should be doing this but most are not ( Look up 912 project-or- Sheriff Mack, some are coming around)

How much has police/governance cost us? They kill MORE poeple than any other people group, yearly.Fact check me.
This includes mafia, gangs, criminals, etc..

Also if you look at my albums here, I rode TWO enduro bikes for the last two years, for the simply fact and to have the ability to go off road if I should so choose.Because some cops are indeed rouge, lawless and belligerent.(<...technical law term not a name calling thing)

I got the interceptor, because i plan on doing more on road riding, but it will be converted to an off road-ish street fighter. I am going to put 50/50's on it.( I know sacrilidge right?) But I am going to do this, it is a very different world we live in..

Terror everywhere they say, could be your neighbor, habib, gary, cindy or the guy at the local corner store, why one has to be prepared for anything right?
Hell I 'm even thinking of gun slings for my ar-15 and jr carbine plus maybe a new bullet proof gastank...lol Just kidding

...but if they are going to act like freaking GOONS of the Gestapho over what is going on in society (that they create through fear and media manipulation of the masses to invoke more police power to protect their corporate interests & make money off of us) and THEY area armed why would you or I be unarmed, if their fear or world view is correct?

Doesn't make sense now does it? The world is worse they say...but give us you guns..haha, how about "No..!"

Anyway...I am different. I know this. I am not a wild ass rebel but I am not kissing govt ass anymore, and I advise others to do the same.
it is the braveheart thing..you either live free or you don't. You HAVE rights, so use them.

The govt has drawn the line...if we the people do not draw ours LAWFULLY ( which is our right in law to do so) then we have no rights.

You have the right to be armed. You have the right to travel unmolested.Doesn't matter what MAY happen, that is precrime B.S. and totalitarianism, far worse than anarchy imho

But you DO NOT have the right to bear a "firearm" as a corporate citizen of the company called U.S. nor do you have the right to "drive" unlicensed, as a corporate citizen, resident, driver etc.(all commercial terms of those who have given up their natural rights & responsibilities for a nanny state)

They are in fact and in law TWO very different things. But it is ALL about lawful rights -or- commercial privlidges. Law & legal are not the same thing.

But to answer your question, I simply NOTICE them that I am not a comercial driver but traveling privately, as per my lawful right upheld by the supreme court and do not consent to an investigation.
The law does not require me to I.D. myself ( 5th ammendment) and are you convicting me of a crime? Do you have a warrant? Otherwise I am free to go, have a nice day.

All driver laws are excise taxes of commercial nature-fact.
You ONLY have to obey them IF you consent to the contract-a.k.a. Licensing & registering, giving up your natural rights for a commerical privlidge.

"know the law=have your rights - no law=no rights".

    humbly submitted and with peace..!:)

Sorry to disappoint you, Bike Pirate

We're in Australia (as per the thread heading), and our laws are very different to those of the USA. If our machines don't meet the legislated requirements, our police have a legislated right to fine us. In some cases, they have a legislated responsibility to put us off the road and make us find an alternative method of getting home. There are even laws that allow them to confiscate our vehicles - and in some cases they can be crushed and sold as scrap, with the revenue going to the government.

Australia isn't a land of free individuals in the way that you seem to think it is. More laws are being introduced all the time to force the populace into being the good little clones that our lords and masters want us to be. The more that people ride machines that don't comply with the legislated requirements, the closer the government comes to making motorcycling so impractical that it might as well be banned. Examples of laws proposed for the next few years are:
1: Mandatory hi-vis protective gear, complying with a standard that doesn't exist yet, so all current gear would need to be replaced
2: Front number plates (proven to be unsafe), or radio frequency ID on all bikes.
There are also "anti association" laws that are starting to pop up in the various states, targetted at outlaw motorcycle clubs, but worded such that they can be used against far more people than OMC members...

Again, Australia is not the land of the free!

O dear, I’m going to be in a lot of trouble then aren’t I.
Hell after my mods are finished my bike will have no rear fender nor the option to put it back and my new rear lights are not ADR comp either.

    O Well F@#K the Police :D

Hehehe. That's one reason why I said that it's a good idea to bring the light out at the bottom, so it's visible at a wider range of angles. ;)

If you make a chain guard/wheel hugger that goes far enough around the rear wheel, you'll comply with the fender requirements. I've seen how handy you are with fibreglass, so I'm sure you could come up with something. The one I've seen (not ADR compliant as a fender replacement) flaps around and contacts the rear tyre because the SSSA doesn't give it enough support, so you'd probably have to base it aound a metal frame to keep it rigid.

On the other hand, you could just take your chances. Just don't go anywhere near the Black Spur, and maybe even Reefton Spur... The Traffic Management Unit will also give you a "date with the EPA" for your exhaust, but they even do that for stock exhausts sometimes because they're a bunch of arseholes!
