I know much has been posted about windscreens here. So far I have owned a Zero gravity ST, stock and a Givi. They are all the same only different. Right now I am running a stock cut back even with the fairing "ears". OK for now, but won't be as it gets colder. So my question is, has anyone used the Laminar Lip designed for the stock screen? I've had two Lips, still have one, they have helped with higher screens, not so sure if a Lip would do the trick on a stock VFR screen.
I have the same question. I just bought a 99 with a taller Givi windscreen. it just shoots the air right into your face. A TON of wind noise. I think I am going to add a universal 17" Laminar lip to the Givi windscreen, as high as posible. $84 clams + shipping but its worth a try. The pic on the Laminar website show that the lip added to the stock windscreen doesn't look any taller at all than my Givi screen. My bike came with a two brothers pipe and souds AWESOME! but I can't hardly hear it over the wind noise past 55 MPH.
You can try it if you want, that set-up with the Givi and a uni 14" was the best of everything I tried, but not acceptable. The Lip is back on my KLR. Because Laminar Lip has a 30 day return policy, next spring I think I going to give the Lip made for the 98-01 a shot on the stock screen and the Givi. By the pics on their site the Lip made for our VFR has much more "lift" that the universal. Not a very good shot of that set -up but you can see the uni Lip is sort of flat, but works great on the KLR. I find the best set up is no set up, no windscreen at all. I bought the bike for the engine and I was sure I could come up with an aftermarket screen that works, like I have done so many times before, not so sure now-- without going as far as making one myself.
