Good shit does happen! A thread about all the good shit and good people that needs to be celebrated.

So as many of you know, I have been working on ressurecting a 2007 RWB that I found on Craigslist in South Carolina. It has been a good project thus far but the challenge of getting new plastics has been an issue. I tried the China connection and got what I paid for which means that she isn't naked anymore but I wasn't happy with the fit and finish so I kept looking. Then I had a bit of luck! I sold a Yamaha R1 front end to a fella in Cali which gave me some project money which I spent on a new OEM upper fairing support off e-bay (score) and then I saw an ad in our classifieds for an upper fairing for free! I thought to myself, this can't be right but I contacted the lister and as it turned out the listing was true. So after a couple of weeks and dealing with UPS who didn't want to pick up the parcel, I received a new in the box upper fairing with an stock windshield!!!!:biggrin: I almost crapped my pants when I pulled it out of the box and it was perfect in every way. So here is a huge public THANK YOU to VFR1200, AKA Ian Turner of Calgary who made this old man very happy..Now I have to decide if I stay with the RWB paint scheme or go with the 2007 Red which I have to say is really nice.

So with that shout out in the books, if any of you have someone to tip the hat to, let er rip.

Yah the thought crossed my mind but I wouldn't know a good bottle of scotch if it hit me in the head. LOL Wish he was closer, I could take him out for a beer.

 

No plans as yet. I have all the parts for the mechanical needs now and quite a pile of plastic between the original RWB fairings, the china stuff and the new upper in Red.

All I need is a RH lower a front fender and a tail fairing to have a complete set of OEM and then I can have the set painted. I don't want to sink $500 worth of paint on the china stuff sp I will probably sell it at a loss.

I really doubt that I will do anything till next year as our home reno is eating every spare minute and dime I have. MY VFR garage sale in the classifieds hasn't generated any cash flow yet so I may have to hit e-bay to liquidate the extra stuff that has accumulated since this project started. Then it's game on!

 

Just throwing it out there - I have a stock 6th gen screen that I could part with.

 

Good Scotch and Black Lable are not usually used in the same sentence. BL is a blend....us snobs don't drinl blends. But the Glenn Livitt is a nice choice. Even the 12 year old is nice.

One of the fine spinoffs of being a recipient of such generosity from someone like you have, is that generosity tends to catch on. I am in need of a whole pile of money right now to buy a new fifth wheel..............

This is turning into a pay it forward type thread. Didn't see that coming but hey, that's the spirit chaps!!!! Let me root about to see what I can offer as well, not that I'm competitive or anything like that.

Oh yes, I have an upper fairing stay (ABS) that's not perfect but if you want her, you can have it for the shipping cost.

 

Just a thought. Maybe a new thread with a title that would be easily searched for this type of thing. If you are interested fly at it. You might seek out suggestions as to what to title it. Sometimes what may seem obvious to you, may not be so obvious to someone else. Just say'n

I think the new one should be called (LEAVE A PART, TAKE A PaRT) we had one a on a jeep forum and it was vary successfully. One guy post a part he has and another takes it and leaves another part and so on. Worked well. I will post it up and lets see if it takes off.
