Hey all...having had my '06 VFR800 picked up yesterday after I could barely get the machine to turn over (battery question posted elsewhere in the forum!), I removed the seat to have a look at the battery and noticed these guys loose at the back. Don't know if it has always been thus, or this tiny harness was severed along the way. Turning indicators and rear light is fine. Is it the brake light? Couldn't find it in the manual...If I need to reconnect, what's the best way? Many thanks...

Look like the connector come from the tail light. Is this your new bike that you just picking up?

Nope, bought the bike a couple of months ago. Just can't recall if that had been connected... Sure seems like it was. Tail light comes on fine, though that pretty thin wires comes off what I assumed was power going back to the tail and turn lights..

It almost looks like someone had something spliced into the tail light wire and has since removed it. Might have been for an extra light, LED lights, etc. Does it have 12V from one of the wires to ground anywhere? If so, you would probably want to tape it up or remove the wire so you don't get any unintentional shorts

I would remove it and repair the wires they tapped into so they don't corrode or cause a short.

You know, I wondered if it had been tapped into and if it was some kind of auxiliary item at some point. Will take a closer look. There doesn't appear to be anything grounded from the mystery offshoot.

The previous owner might have a fuse box install, this is common for fuse box tap into the tail light.
