I finally took the big step and installed factory hard bags and Staintunes on my 03'. I ordered the bags from David Silver Spares in Brittain and saved a bunch of money, plus I got 5 day delivery to Oregon. The red doesn't quite match the red on my 03', but considering that I saved about $400 from the price quoted by the Honda dealer I'm more than pleased.

I had some trouble getting the Staintune collector to slide all the way onto the Catalytic Converter. I e-mailed Staintune and got a super quick response stating that a few units were shipped before passing their final inspection. They were very apologetic and suggested getting the local muffler shop tp expand the end of the pipe slightly. That all went well, and I am very happy with the final installation. Afterwards, I replied to Staintune's e-mail to tell them everything was OK. Again, I got a very quick response offering to compensate me for my truobles. WOW! How great is that? How refreshing to do business with a company that not only has a SUPER product, but also SUPER support.

I already have the OEM bags (also got them from DSS in the UK) and just ordered myself a set of the Staintine pipes. I'm assuming that I will have to remove the bags racks to install the pipes. I guess you were lucky enough to do both mods at the same time.

I'm a tad concerned about the pipe fitment that you mention.
Did you use any of the high temp sealant that the Staintune instructions mention?

Chomper...I recommend going DSS. The price and service was first rate!

    Cheers,

    Rob

I wished i had gone with DSS seems like i would of saved at least $400 o well someone has to keep the local economy going. I removed racks when i installed staintunes and did put some hightemp sealant where cans slip on. you will love the sound its awsome!! so diferent than most bikes, its that v4.it takes at least a couple of hundred miles to break them in.

Just checked out your gallery and we basically have identical bikes. (or we will once I get my 'tunes on)
Yours must be at least an '04 as you have the "alloy" coloured rims, whereas my '03 has the black ones.
I also have a Puig screen, albeit a slightly lighter shade of "smoke".

Do you find that the bags or the contents are affected by the heat given off from the pipes? I know that the bags have that small patch of "heat shield" but didn't know if that would be enough.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Ya bikes are almost the same glad to see someone else has good tast as well:biggrin: .....
i need one of those sargent seats, you went all black i was thinking silver or gray piping yours looks great good choice, did you order online ? i also need some of those vfr stickers.
i havent had any problams with heat from pipes they seem to run a little cooler than the stock pipes the more restictive the exhaust the hotter it gets, the real test will be those hot summer days. the best thing i did was get rid of those stock pipes it now sounds like a bike to reckon with not a turbo hair dryer cossed between a honda mower. bike runs a little better as well. the only down side is i do drive alittle too hard just hear that awsome roar i think a radar detector might be on my list soon.

Good to hear it worked out, must admit with spuds out with their small block like sound Staintunes are fantastic on a Gen 6 and the music just keeps getting better with the miles.

i got mine out of the states. tried to find locally in vancouver and calgary the best i could do was 1250$ +tax 6-8 week wait or more! i guess they needed enough orders to fill their canoe. out of riverside california they are 765$ us plus shipping out of seattle they were 900 if you want the # just send me a pm and i will dig out the invoice. or you can try www.staintune.com.au to find a local dealer in toronto you might have better luck but don t hold your breath
