Hey all hope everyone is riding safe and having fun,

I have a 2005 VFR800 VTEC with ABS. I have looked through the forums and have not found an issue like the one I am having. Sometimes, when I release the throttle while coming to a stop and allow the bike to idle, the RPMs will drop below 1,000 and the bike will act like it's about to stall. I can twist the throttle to bring it back up, but when I release it, the same thing happens.

If I let it die and then restart the engine, it idles at the factory set (and personally tuned by me) 1200 RPM.

This is a pretty random and intermittent problem, but it only happens when the engine is warm. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the computer controlled FI. Maybe a sensor is going bad somewhere. I wanted to throw this question out there to see if anyone is having or had a similar issue.

Same thing is happening in my '05 Colorado. The guy at the auto parts store suggested replacing the TPS (throttle position sensor). I havent gotten around to replacing it yet, so I cant tell you if it worked. Im curious to see what some other people say.

Hmm, I may have to pull out the multi meter to see. If the TPS failed or was failing, should the check engine light flash?

Not a clue. The check engine light has never flashed when it has had the problem, but it maybe that there is no system to monitor the sensor. Something could be faultly with the TPS causing it to mis read the throttle position, cuts back the fuel, engine almost die, then chugs back to life. Dont know, never had a problem with a TPS till now, and even then it doesnt do it very often (my gass mileage hasnt gone down, and i just checked the spark plugs and they are fine), so its not high on my priorities to fix.
