Hi all I wonder can any shed some light on my problem I am after fitting a power commander 11 on my 01 vfr I did the 02 sensor eliminators Make Your Own O2 Sensor Eliminators - Modifications - VFR Discussion but the fi light comes on after a short ride I checked to make sure I had the resistors in the right connections and they were but I see they were melting through the insulation tape I put around them I checked and they were working 330 ohm and they were I tried different ones and the same happened I searched the forum but I dont see anything like this problem anyone any ideas
Wrong forum--go ask those other guys that told you to do this but don't know why they are doing it... They are full of talking and discussion, but low on tech in my opinion. You probably plugged the resistors into the 12 volt heater lines instead of the 5 volt signal line. Those resistors will burn out above 9 volts.
I think I remember reading that the resistors are available in different wattage ratings and too low of a wattage results in high temperature of the resistor. I think 1/2 watt had slightly larger leads which some felt helped with the installation. Since I had no knowledge of the resistor use, I bought the "eliminators" from Dynojet. After doing some more reading, it appears the 1/2 watt/330 ohm resistors are recommended.
For your information it was on this forum that I got the link to the other forum for the diy sensor eliminators the recommendation is in several post and no I did not connect them wrong
