Brother is a dealer sales guy and just took in a trade on a 2010 VFR1200F w/ 16,000 miles. Not perfect, but in good shape with the center stand and adjustable windshield added. Had one tipover with very minor cosmetic consequences. Rode it on Friday and its a nice package. I would never have considered this bike new because of the price, but this can be mine for $8,200 as they want to avoid keeping it on the floor all winter. At that price, it seems like a no-brainer.

But I'm torn. I sold my Triumph Sprint ST last year as I had impending shoulder surgery over the winter. Have really missed riding and my shoulder is almost fully recovered, but the forward-lean bikes might be a challenge for me from here on out. I found the VFR riding position to be very similar to my old Sprint. For about this same money, I could find a 2011 Sprint GT that already has bags on it. Once I add Givi or factory bags to the VFR, it will be more expensive than the newer Triumph.

Anyone ride both or have opinions on how I might find the VFR as a long-term ride? Any must-do mods or things to watch out for mechanically?

Also, there's a low bumble in the engine at idle that goes away when the clutch it pulled - what's that sound?

Call me crazy but I would go lower on price with the high miles and damage.
Here is a 2010 with 2800 miles factory hard bags and perfect shape for $8,800. Granted it is a private seller.

I've never ridden either bike although the Sprint ST was on my short list of bikes I was considering before I found my VFR.
You can always get heli risers if the forward lean is too much.

That looks to be a great deal. Thanks for the heads up. Last thing I want to do is get stuck buying the stock luggage at full price on a bike that doesn't have it. The bags for my old Sprint were very sought after as they were approaching $1k from the dealers which I thought was atrocious. These are more like $1400??

I just bought a 2010 VFR1200FD with 5500 miles on it for $18900. No luggage or options. The bike was a demo unit and they sold it with 4 year warranty. They gave me $5000 for my old 2001 VFR800.

...prices are a bit different here in Finland.

They're higher in Canada, too... but not nearly as high as Finland... have you considered buying in the US and shipping back? You could save a bundle.

Man, but great for riding a I bet. I spent a month and a half in Finland last year, and while I was a leeettttle bored, it was pretty obvious that country is great for riding. Empty roads, no lights, good visibility. VFR1200: $18000. Summer trips to Lapland: Priceless.
