Question about vf500f seats

Should the seat on my 86 vf500 lock? I know this is kind of a dumb question but i'm not sure. I know the bike has a helmet lock but i'm not sure if that is supposed to lock the seat.

The other issue is that the helmet lock is bent and doesn't work. Is this an easy fix? Picks:

 

Short answer - yes - the helmet lock is supposed to lock the seat as well.

 

K 2 more stupid questions. Does the helmet lock need to be in the "locked" position in order for the seat to be locked? And is it the same key as the ignition, or am i supposed to have 2 keys?

Yes, the helmet lock must be in upper "locked" position, and the key is the same as for ignition.

 

Weird. My helmet lock doesn't "lock".

What does it click into, on the frame end?
