    Hi Redex,

Thanks for your email. Yep, the panniers are good though they don't used all that often. I wouldn't buy them myself if it was up to me; I'd try and make use of aftermarket panniers or maybe a gearsack. The Honda panniers have a RRP of over $2K and I know the person I bought the bike from paid $1620 and fitted them himself. My wife doesn't get on the back of my bike as she says I'm too old (what does that make her?), though she used to be on the back 20-30 years ago and you didn't know she was there until you got the jab in the ribs to slow down. She bought a 125cc Vespa last year and we do the odd run each month with her, though its a bit slow as you can imagine. I've attached a photo of her in our backyard the day we bought it.

GPS, I was thinking about one, but I'm looking at bluetooth intercoms first. They cost nearly as much as the bloody bike!!

I agree with Danny; I'd be worried about sticking them on the screen also.

Let me know what you end up doing. How much did you oay for the 660 and what do you think of it?

    Cheers

    Colin

    Hi Bandit,

Still haven't decided what to do with the GPS for the bike, but it works well in the car. I was in NZ on business last week and it worked well there too.

I had been watching the price for years and it suddenly dropped to about $500, so I rushed in. I may do as Danny suggested and move the heated grip control to the right hand side, but I don't think I'd get a tank bag. Having said that though, I know people who swear by them. I'm worried about scratches from such a thing as well. I'll probably just keep it in a backpack or the topbox for now and just listen to the instructions.

I also got an Interphone F5 headset (actually the twin pack) which seems to be OK, although I only have reviews to go by, no other personal experience. I also got a Replay XD video camera and I'm still working out where to mount it, (Big trip coming up)

    Hi Redex,

I've got a small tankbag I use on the VFR as there is no space anywhere on the VFR to carry even your wallet. Underseat storage is non existent! I put a cut up sloppy joe under the tankbag to make sure it doesn't scratch and I reckon that's fine. If you have an intercom you can stick the GPS anywhere and listen to the directions.

I picked up a dual pack Sena SMH10 last week from a mate who is selling his bike. I haven't used it on the bike yet but walking around the backyard with our helmets on they work fine. If you know anyone that wants a better than mint condition Honda 600 F4 let me know. Its only got16,500Kms on it with a lot of accessories - bloody lovely bike.

    Cheers

I haven't been here for a while, but I thought I'd update with my latest mod. When I got the bike I found the standard screen very noisy, but didn't want to lay out $400+ for the genuine Honda higher accessory screen. I put on a Laminar lip that cost about $150 and have lived with it for nearly 4 years now, but I'd have to say I didn't like the look of it. So, I laid out the $400 odd for the genuine Honda item and just fitted it today. The noise level is improved, but still not great, but the looks are improved a lot. I think the airflow is less turbulent as well. One thing that's not so great is the edge is covered with a strip of tube instead f the flame rounded edge on the original screen. Anyway, here's a couple of pics:

On my 5th gen I've got a ball mount secured by the 2 small bolts at the front of the fuel tank. I haven't looked for a while, there were some pics in my gallery. Don't know if the 6th gen is the same. Although I may find out very soon, I may be getting a 6th gen in the very near future...

    Hi everyone.

I'm in Purff. Long time VFR lover since buying a brand new Gen1 in '83

Now have my all time favorite - low km '92 RC36. Only problem is I have always loved the white ones. Thinking of of having Vitech do a snow job on it but it feels a bit sacreligious to do so...

    Hi Morpheus,

A very nice looking machine. I understand your concern over having some work done, but I guess if its done on the inside the machine will appear the same but go even better. Not sure I'd be touching the colour or styling of the machine

    Cheers

Gen 5 Rebuild from the bare frame

:vtr2:Mike on the Sunny Coast 'discovered' vifffers late in life after many other bikes. Ride 2000 800Fi and have not ridden a more fun bike ever. Belong to Noosa Motorbike Club (check out our weekly rides on facebook if you are in the area.) Looking for a frame for a 1998 that was declared a stat write-off in NSW.
Found the Frame YEEEHAAA! Now the work starts.
Any tips of stripping and rebuilding a Gen 5. Saw good tips in the forum for gen 3 and 4 as in laying stripped bike on its left side and removing bolts then flipping the frame and removing the rest voila! Don't have to lift heavy parts etc.
What's the scoop with the Gen 5?

Had no problem with the ram mount that was on the fuel tank bolts on my 5th Gen, it is now on my '07 R/W/B. Now I just have to get the whole thing wired up...

    Thanks!

Not quite :) These were taken in my studio. I do have some light painting shots somewhere but they're not as good.

I thought yellow and white and even silver were light paint. I know the seasons are different in OZ . I guess the paint is too.
