HI! My name is DeeDee. I recently decided to revive my passion for riding. I decided if I got my endorsement I would buy a bike. On my was home from getting my endorsement I saw an 87 Honda VFR700F2 for sale. It was screaming, "BUY ME!". I picked it up the next day. My intention was to purchase a Night 250 or like. I rode one in my MSF course and thought it was lightweight and be a great confidence builder. After I gained my confidence and renewed my riding skills I would move up to a more powerful bike, one that had power and quieter for freeway driving. I find my VFR700 a bit heavy and my feet just touch the ground. It is a little tiring getting it around parking lots and in and out of parking spaces. But IT IS AWESOME! My goal is to become confident and proficient with my new bike.

Already I have lost my keys. One is for my ignition and the other my gas cap and helmet mount. I discovered VFRWORLD as I read a thread dated 6/28/2012 from a member "bubshoe" entitled "lost key help". I read the reply from squirrelman and emailed him. With squirrelman's knowledge and help I have replaced my gas cap and helmet mount key. I still need to replace my ignition key. Is there an easy way for me to view the bottom of my ignition without completely removing it? I have the original service manual but sometimes it assumes the reader is a mechanic and not someone trying to fix their own bike. I am in the process of finding one from Haynes, Chilton, or any other that would be more user friendly. I welcome and thankin advance any suggestions to aid in my plight.

Welcome to this place of insanity, stupidity and sometimes errotic VFR behaviour. I can't help you with your concern but I am sure someone can step in in short order to help you out. Is there a chance, you can get a mirror under there to see. I simply don't know but a thought.

Why didn't I think of that. I'll try it first thing in the morning. Thanks for the quick response.

Thank you for the welcome. You must be familiar with Northern Nevada. Dayton, about 25 miles east of Carson City.
