Guy's just spent a rainy Saturday installing the kit....Wow! What a difference it makes. It never seemed that bad but I can never leave anything alone. It's very precise and clutch less up shifts are smooth as silk!!! Great Mod

+1 On the Factory Pro Quick Shifter Kits.

Agreed Somefun,I have Factory Pro Evo 7 Star Quick Shift Kits installed on both my '03 VFR800 and '04 RC51. You're right, shifting is now smooth and precise. Slightly more effort on the toe lever with a shorter shifter throw. I'm with you,it's a good mod.

Maybe this will motivate me to finally get off my ass and install mine. And maybe not.

It took me months to get around to installing my Factory Pro kit, but it is truly worth doing.

It is even easier to find neutral (when you want to!). the shifts are clean and precise. This is one of those pieces of equipment that the factory should have used in the first place.

You obviously haven't seen the entire bike yet? The tank represents a small fraction of the total mods on this bike. I'm pretty sure Stosh has some pics in his gallery.

Where does the improvement come from?
Is it the stiffer detent spring?
Does the stock detent roller have tons of drag in it?

The stiffer spring makes you have to use more pressure but it clicks over faster when it does. The new Star is shaped differently and the new arm has a ball bearing roller versus the stock bushing. Don't get me wrong, it's not tennis shoe friendly but a nice improvement.

I have worn holes thru my dedicated riding boots ova-dah life span of the bike that the kit is installed on. Installed mine over 18 years ago on a 3rd gen, what I remember is it was a pain in der-arse.

I use clutch on the street, when I was road-racing; only from first to secong gear changes, always clutch on down-shits, (shifts.) :nelson:

    Cheers...

The front sprocket needs to be removed, but wait, it's not that easy !!! The chain must be loosened before the sprocket will lift off. Mark the adjuster so it can be reset to the same position, and then recheck chain tension. Don't need to drain the oil to install the shift kit.
