Hi all, loved the vfr since I first saw a '91, bought a '93 in '95 and sold it in a fit of rage against our public insurer in '04. Found a beautiful '97 in '07 and have had it ever since. Due to my love for the 3rd gen I am contemplating swapping the 5 spoke for the 8 spoke and getting the 3rd gen exhaust can. Wondering if any one can tell me if the wheel will bolt straight on or if I also have to change any other part of the hub, brakes etc. Your help will be greatly appreciated as dealers do not seem to know.

Yes the 8 spoke wheel will fit the 97 with no mods required. As a matter of fact, I believe it will fit any generation VFR that has the single side swingarm, with the possible exception of the gen 7 bikes (VFR1200). I think most people on this forum would die to get their hands on the 8 spoke wheel from a 3rd gen because they are hard to come by, and most of the ones available are expensive. As for the exhaust, I'm sure you'll be able to find an exhaust can for the bike somewhere. I had a Delkevic on my last bike and it sounded quite good and the price was very reasonable. Staintune makes the nicest sounding exhaust for the VFR (IMHO) but they too can be hard to find and they are expensive. Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site. Don't forget to post some pics of the bike.
