Any road in the US can be a thrill a minute when packed with RVs and cagers talking on cellphones. Just the other day on my way to WalMart..;)

Some of those on a bike would not be for the faint of heart..

Two in my sort of hood. Lolo Pass and Highway 20 in Washington State from Concrete, to Winthrop.. Summer only. At first snow they shut it down. Lots of unexplored wilderness in that part of the country.

I haven't been on the "Road of Death" in Columbia, but I have been on similar roads in Peru when I was down there for a motorcycle tour. Very narrow, very long drop offs, very unimproved, and very scary. Our guide told us if we went off the edge to have a hang glider handy. :) We have farm roads in Missouri that are maintained better than main roads down there. LOL

Deer are unpredictable. Elk are pissed off and unpredictable. Moose are really pissed off and great big mofo's.

So far only 5 of them - but next year were heading for Norway and the States the year after :) so hope to check out a few more.

So far we have found a few places in NY and LA offering to rent Harleys but it would be nice to find - a vfr rental location in NY or LA especially if there is a firm happy to allow one way rentals?

PS The Milau viaduct/bridge looks stunning from the old town below but riding over the bridge is a bit disappointing as the high guard rails mean it looks like almost any stretch of elevated motorway - even if it was a totally bonkers idea to build a bridge across a gorge deeper than the Eifel tower!

I was on car trip down to Key West when I was yonger. Pretty crazy looking any way but forward and seeing nothing but water. A lot like the Mackinac Bridge, but longer.

I've driven the overseas highway four times...fun for a little while, until the constant water and straight road starts to get boring. I'm sure it's more fun on a motorcycle. I'm also very surprised that US 129 didn't make it onto that list.

I wasn't really impressed with the straight roads either - such as the bridge. Its interesting, but no interesting to ride. But some of those others are sweet looking.

I would say don't tell anybody about the North Cascades Highway in Washington State. There is a sign as you enter that says "No services for 70 miles". It is the Alps in the Northwest. The fewer people that know about it, the better, that way it stays open and empty. Going to ride it this Saturday.

Also just did the road to Hurricane Ridge on the Olympic Peninsula. It was 17 miles of road that has maybe 100 yards straight at the most. Smooth asphalt, very tight curves, high mountain elevation and no guardrails. And plenty of deer.

Just one example of the kind of scenery.

Enjoy, but keep it our little secret!

As long as the harleydoods don't discover 20, its OK by me ;) The Ridge is one of the great rides. As is doing the entire peninusula loop. Going up the ridge is neat in that the line of sight is such that the "line" can be ridden instead of just using half the roadway. Going down is a whole different story and can produce some very white knuckles.

Another great day ride is the "Three Pass Blast". Stevens/Blewitt/ Snoqualmie.

Did the Olympic peninsula last week, and I live within 15 min of Blewett and Stevens pass and an hour of North Cascades. So although none are on the world's best roads, they are pretty fine by me and perfect VFR territory. Hope I didn't high jack this thread too much.

I've recently been riding the roads leading to the Tunica, MS casinos. Nice n smooth of course, casino $$ was probably involved in the building. The MS delta roads entice top end bursts as well.

Hi Guys, for those of you who live in Europe, this is one of the best road out there. Its packed with Bikers on weekends, have a look at the link. Its from San Pedro to Ronda, if you zoom in you will see why this is a favourite! Gibraltar to Ronda, Spain - Google Maps

The road between ummmm....104?? And Cape Flannery out on the Olympic Peninsula is freakin fantastic too. If you catch it before tourist season (July) and the weather is nice, it can be empty. And you get to take a walk out to the cliffs at the cape at the end.

112 will get you near Cape Flattery. Cape Flannery is in Georgia. Nice ride but a bit long especially with all those damned Winnbagos on the road. Be careful out on the peninsula the Native Americans out there are still pretty wild.

Not sure about one of the most amazing roads in the world, but a nice little jaunt is down Hwy 7 in Arkansas, from Harrison to Hot Springs. Of course, there is also 23 from Eureka Springs, to 16, to 7...
Another nice one is 125 from Sparta, MO to Peels Ferry (free ferry ride), then to Harrison.

Just some day trips that I've taken in the past.
