New to the forum - have to admit that I have been lurking around for information. Just wanted to post a few pics of my new (to me) 500 Interceptor. Remember seeing these when they were new and always wanted one - now completed that mission. This was a true barn find - I am the 2nd owner, original owner bought it new in 85, rode it for 2 years and parked her. She has 11,741 original miles on her. Last inspection sticker before the one that I slapped on it was Aug 87. It was under a cover and filthy when I picked it up.

The only rust on her is on the front pipes and that will soon be taken care of, she is 99.9% stock (grips are not original), original paint with only a few dents in the tank and some faded paint on the right side of the fairing and tail, even has the original tool kit - black chrome on the cans is in decent condition. Replaced the seat (dry rot), New tires and she's back on the road. Cleaned the tank, and carbs (aren't they fun to work on?) I've driven it all summer and it runs like new. BTW, that is another classic toy behind the interceptor, a 95 Nissan 300ZX convertible, 100% stock with 62K on the clock. One of < 300 that were imported that year.

Very nice. Are white wheels original for an '85?

Thank you guys. Love the forum - it has been a wealth of knowledge for working on this bike. Don't know if the white wheels were original or not (just assumed they were as they are VERY well done). Didn't ask the guy that owned it if he painted them.

One last shot showing the other side - if you notice there is a dent in the tank right at the wing. Not sure how to pull that or if these tanks were double walled.

Very nice. I have found a couple like that but was to young and dumb to not keep them. I'm almost positive the wheels were white as oem. I think in 86 they were black.

I've heard (and read on the forum) these early "mini-ceptors" had oiling issues, and read there were aftermarket oil pumps that corrected the problem. I'm nearly certain that this bike missed the boat on the recall. Does anyone know where I can get a higher volume pump to help avoid detonating this bike?
