vf1000f questions

    Hey guys,

    I just bought a 1984 vf1000f, but my valve are quite noisy and I already did the valve clearance.I see a lot of people talking about a top end oiling kit.Not sure exactly what it does and where to buy one maybe you guys could help me?

    The oiling kit is an attempt to prevent damage but it sounds like you may have some already. I suggest you inspect the lobes with a close eye. When the cams have wear they tend to be very noisy and will click audibly even when the engine is rolled over by hand.

    Depends. But if you set all the clearances correctly at .006 you would have noticed bad cams. It's most likely the cam chain tensioners are not holding and letting the cam chain flop around a little. They sound the same.
    The top end oiling kit was for a oiling non problem. Now may be if your racing the bike it might not be a bad idea. Only if you have an adapter at the oil filter like an oil cooler has. Drilling in to the case and taking oil away from the mains IMO is a bogus way to do it.

    That may not be a problem I have two cams that have a pit or two in them since the eighties. It's towards the edge of the cam where the rocker doesn't ride. Never been a problem. At least in the last 50k miles.
