Hi and welcome the madhouse from the far side of the pond. When you get a chance its a good idea to post photos of your bike with your introduction.

As for help with your electrical woes, it seems this summer has had quite a few cries for help with charging system issues - mostly duff wiring looms, melted connectors, cooked batteries and the odd dead RR - so you have come to the right place with lots of people who can speak from personal experience. Anyway hopefully a few links will give you a lot of ideas of what to check and where.

ALSO check out the second and third posts on this thread

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/5th-gene...-stalled-red-light-wouldnt-start-back-up.html

    - the video may be a bit slow, but it shows in simple terms how to figure out if your RR is working OK or is fit for the bin.

Don't overlook the obvious the starter relay and fuses and fuse holders beside the battery can be problematic. If they are toast then the bike wont be happy!

Good luck and let us know how you get on. If you are still struggling, with luck others will be along with plenty of suggestions, and if you resolve the problem - don't forget to post up your fix so others can learn from you!

How exactly have you been testing? I assume you set your voltmeter to AC setting and measured electrical current at the 3 yellow stator wires behind the right mid panel?

Huh, sounds like the VFR is the bike to get if you are a recently divorced guy in your 40's!! I was in the same situation exactly a year ago! Welcome. You will find a TON of info here and people who are willing to share their knowledge.
