Hi. I was wondering if anyone here has installed some sort of small storage bin on the fairing like those found on the concours and fjr?

I think it would be convenient to be able to throw my parking garage fob or other small items in there. Thanks for any input.

I do love the storage box on the FJR. Fits paper work for the bike, wallet, and both phones......awsome little compartment. Seriously doubt it would work on the VFR but and gonna take a tape measure to it.

thanks. yeah, by looking at pictures, the bin looks pretty big. not so sure the actual one would work either. i was hoping someone did something similar. i emailed a vendor today asking them if they could send me the dimensions of the yamaha bin. not going to hold my breath for a reply.

wow, the vendor replied. he said that the fjr bin is 8"x5" and 7" deep if counting the whole assembly and the actual container is 5.5"x3.5" and 6" deep.

haven't looked under the fairings in a while, but i don't think there is that much room underneath. hmm...

My only suggestion is the rear area under the rear cowl. IF you're using a Sargent World Sport seat that is 2 pieces, you now have an empty area under there. Just an idea. Its what I did on mu 3rd gen. Big enough for a tool kit, patch kit, maybe even a small air pump. Access is a little inconvenient.

I made my own 2 piece seat from a stock seat. I just cut the seat pan and made my own front seat and had it covered by an upholstery shop. This way I have a big storage area where the pillion seat would be under the seat cowl.

For 2 up I use a stock seat.
