    Hi all,

Thanks for running such a helpfull website, and I apologize if someone has answered this question already, but I could not find and answer to this specific wiring question.

I just got my new FH020AA regulator and am wiring it up to the factory harness. The factory harness has two red wires and two green wires. The new regulator has only 1 post for a red wire and 1 post for a green wire.

Is it okay to join the two red wires together in a Y at the regulator? Same for the green wires?

Just upgrading. Bike runs fine now. Just got it 2 weeks ago. Did 850 mile tour last 3 days and was a great way to get to know the bike.

Yes, I am being careful, even to the point of asking a question that may seem obvious to others or answered already.

I already have the new reg/rec from roadstercyce.com, and am soldering the connections as I type this. Already did the stator connections, but am not sure about the two red wires and the two green (ground) wires, and if they can/should be Y'ed together at the reg/rect.

I have seen the red and green Y'ed together on the "how to install an R1 reg/rec on a 5th gen" link, and Jack from roadstercycle.com said they both lead to the battery, so it should be okay, but I wanted opinions of anyone else who might know better than me.

I don't want to mess this up.

Agreed - -ok lesse -- Your R/R should have 3 yellow wires that you say you had soldered to the stator? --- Then you should have 2 wires left out of the R/R --- yes? -- Youre gonna go direct to the battery. Fat red wire with fuse to pos side, and fat black wire to the battery or frame. Check my link.

Got a camera? pics would help and well why not look a link........

-- Your gonna leave the big black connector on the viffer open and tape it up. See all the gunk I did to seal it up? -( Youre bikes a '98 right?)

I just completed mine a month ago and for what ever my two pennies are worth you won't go wrong wiring direct to the batt. I went down the same road as you at first then skipped the stock harness all together. My thought was if I need to through on a stock RR one day on a trip it will still plug right in with little work. If I could figure out how to post pics I would show you what I did, but I am too stupid. There are a ton of links on the site and MD helped me through mine as well. Good Luck.
