Hi, I had an 86 and an 87 vfr 700s given to me a while back. I have the 86 running and rideable. I am replacing the regulator, the previous owner cut off the 3-wire connector between the alt. and reg. and twisted the wires together. I purchased the 3-wire connector. I purchased an aftermarket regulator for it. all the wires are yellow, does it matter in what order I put the wires into the new connector? Just got it running, don't want to burn it up!

Does not matter how they are connected. That being said, I would not install the stock conector....I would solder the stator wires to the RR wires direct and put some heat shrink tubing on them, etc. That will eliminate a failure point. I did that on my 2000 with zero issues.

thank you very much. I didn't think it mattered but I wanted to be sure. The 86 vfr is yellow (good color). I have replaced some of the parts with parts from the 87 (love having a parts vehicle). Very close to getting it on the road, ready to check it out.
