I have all vacuum lines hooked up,fuel in tank, pet cock on res position but it only pulls very little fuel into the line when I remove it to see if any fuel is getting into the line but its not enough to feed the carbs and keep them going. Pet cock was cleaned and all rubber diaphrams look good, no rips or tares. fuel level is good, just over the pet cock level. Any ideas. Am I missing something...gravity feed no fuel pump..thanxs for any input

Sounds like a personal problem bud! sorry couldn't resest.

Is there a little screen filter in the tank that may be clogged?

Is the gas cap venting? Try opening the gas cap and see how it flows

I just had this problem on a Hawk gt im fixing up. I flushed the tank with half water, half vinegar - letting it soak for a day. And I also replaced the in tank filter/screen that MrSleep speaks of. This is with a mikuni vacuum pump - and the fuel lines were mostly air and not enough fuel. The bike could idle ok but under a higher revv it would want to die out. After the flush and new screen the lines are now full of fuel and I can revv it and it wont want to cut out. I know different bike but seems to be the same kind of problem.

Cleaned and flushed, tank, pet cock w/screen and diaphrams, vents.
Its an 86 Cali. model and all vacuum lines are hooked up even the vent line from the fuel tank to the canisters.
When I try to start it. I get gas in the line but not enough to flood the line to start.. What's up w that? Any ideas?

There are what look like two ports for vacuum but only one will work, easy to mix up, are you sure you have the proper port on the petcock ported to vacuum?

With the tank on the bike I can see the pet cock. I have the vacuum line on the valve closest to me. Is this correct?
