We've all had experienced cagers cutting us off in one way or another. Some while on the cell. Some being just plain dead headed asshole cement heads.

I am in Vancouver today riding along Burrard St south of False Creek. For those of you who don't know, this is a business district just outside the down town core of Vancouver. 6 lanes divided. I am in the #2 lane. Beside me in the curb lane is relatively clear. In the centre lane is a panel van about 10 feet ahead of me. It makes a move over the line into my lane by about a foot then suddenly jerks back into its own lane. I don't recall if it signaled. But so what. It would appear someone was about to make a lane change, saw that I was there and reacted by returning suddenly. Fine and dandy. I am OK with this. I did not have to take any evasive action. And no harm done. I just continued on my way.

About a mile further along Burrard, now in the down town core, I arrive at my destination and find a parking spot readily. Low and behold, this same panel van pulls in behind me and the driver gets out and starts to approach. OK now. Where the fuck is this going I wonder? Driver stops and starts talking to me. I am all plugged in so motion to him to wait until I can hear him.

So this guys starts to apologizing to me. Says he was about to make a lane change then at the last minute, sees me in his mirror. Says even with the convex mirrors, it is sometimes difficult in a panel van in heavy traffic. So soon as he sees me he jumps back into his own lane. He apologizes profoundly to me. I tell him I was not the slightest bit concerned. There was lots of space to take evasive action if I felt the need which I did not.

We went about our own ways. Imagine that! Someone apologizing for recognizing their error even after they had corrected and there was no harm done. Not all cagers are trying to kill you. If they are, and fail, they will apologize I guess.

    Makes us Canadians proud.:canada:

Wanting to peel you like a bananna or not, I'm still pretty damn impressed that he made the effort to stop and apologise for allmost making you nervous. Sounds like he may also be a rider or a former rider to me.

When I was in the Army, we had a guy in my platoon who commuted daily, nearly got cleaned up by a woman on his way to work and offered all the usual gestures of annoyance... She followed him to the barracks, where I happened to be on gate guard duty... When he pulled up, she was right behind him so he jumped off end she came out to apologise, he was shocked to say the least... So all the pleasantries out of the way, she hops in her car, grabs the passenger headrest and swings her body around to view out the back window as she reversed from the gate - stupid nonce had put her car in drive instead of reverse and ended up driving over his ride (Honda NX650)

Some days you just can't escape stupid...!!!

We all laugh about it now but that's something that always comes up - you couldn't have scripted 'stupid' better for a movie...

As a New Orleanian, the most dangerous thing to me on the road is the other drivers. They are ALL on the cell phones or driving without signalling, etc, etc, etc...

My favorite of these stupid cagers happened upon me on my way home from work. There is this section where two lanes go up over a hill and come down into 3 lanes (not a hill, but a bridge since there are NO hills in New Orleans). I always get in the left lane, which divides into two at the base of the bridge. Every day (and I mean EVERY day) someone driving SUPER slow gets in the left lane and takes the far left lane when they split (the fast lane). So every day I flash my lights and most of the time, people move over to the center lane (where they should have been in the first place). This time, nothing happens. Then, we lock eyes in her rearview. She could clearly see me looking at her. So, I motion with my left hand to move over into the center lane. And I will remember this forever (remember, she is doing 45mph in a 50mph zone IN THE FAST LANE which is usually doing 70mph) but she looks at me and just shakes her head back and forth as if to say, "NO. I own this lane. You move over." So I did. I moved into the center lane to pass and just as I did (with a turn signal) she tries to cut me off. Too bad for her is that she wasn't looking in front of her and went right through the curve in the road and crossed the center lane and hit a car in the right lane sending them both in a ditch...Normally, I might have stopped, especially considering it happened right in front of me, but this day I decided to give her the "wanker" symbol with my closed fist (which she probably didn't see because her airbag DEFINITELY went off) and continued on my way...

I hope she remembers next time that no one owns the road...especially the idiots...

Ya well that shit never happens here in the state of the DRIVING DEAD. Going to work last Tuesday , doing 75 in the Diamond lane, and heres this bitch 5 feet of my rear , so I give her a little back jester with my left hand (not the finger ) so what does she do-passes over the double yellow, flips me off and as soon as she passes crosses over the double right in front of me and starts doing 65 mph WTF--- out here its mostly the woman that really have no clue at all about driving let alone about tail gating--its almost like LA drivers are in a nascar race and drafting off each other. Thats why I always ride as if know one sees me, even if there looking right at me--sorry for the rant

Gotta tell you Duc, I would rather drive the freeway down there on a bike than our pitiful freeway here. Not only is your freeway better than our goat path, but from my experience in driving both, as a whole, your drivers are considerably better than ours.

Rant on, Coming home today on my regular commute and splitting lanes up to the red I came on an old Porsche 914. My usual launch from the red typically leaves the cagers far behind and I can assume the left or right lane. This time I found the Porsche right next to me in the left lane and had to go right to keep from getting rear ended. At the next light it was the same story but he was ahead of me despite a very hard launch. I backed off and came up behind him at the next red light and spotted the two exhaust pipes and what sounded like a very beefy Chevy V8. Lesson learned. I'm not the fastest on the road and still need to pay attention. I'll get him off the line next time!

HA nice!! Every once in a while I get a cager that thinks they can keep up, I let them belive this till I get up in the revs at 1/4 throttle, then I give her the beans, upshift, and smoke the shit outta them. They usually don't try again.

Love doing it to the young commodore drivers here, they smoke it off the line, I let them go a bit the roll up beside the drivers window with two fingers up, clutchless into 3rd, raise a 3rd finger and smoke'em...

I had a cager once come up to me to apologize once about cutting in front of me. That was right after I T-boned him right behind the rear wheel of a Honda Accord. He was very sorry and said he rides bikes too! As I was laying there I thought "how nice" Yea right!!
