even if its spring, I've noticed like probably all other VFR riders that there is a little problem about heat from back two cylinders and pipes which is going under the seat and making it hot, normally its not problem, but in extremely hot summer days it probably can be a little annoying, so I was wondering is there any idea about this issue?

asbestos undies....... seriously..... try wrapping your exhaust in the insulating tape that might cut down on the heat a bit... I think the heat is just a "perk" with this bike...

It is what it is! My right thigh usually gets cooked to medium well after a few hours on the 3rd Gen

When I had the 5th gen it didn't bother me anywhere near as much as I notice it with the 05. I think I am becoming used to it. Several, including Rollin have suggested wrapping the exhaust but I haven't felt desperate enought yet to do it.

An idea I had for another bike that would apply here would be to use a hugger to keep crud off the shock etc. and then you could remove the inner fender pieces that would then allow the heat to flow out the back instead of getting bottled up. The only thing I don't know is if anyone makes a hugger for the VFR.

After more reading I see there are some huggers available. I will most definitely get one for my future bike and do something to open up the area behind the rear cyl. so the heat has somewhere to exit that won't bother the rider. i just hope to find a bike soon before all the huggers are gone.

    try this

    Hello there.
I know what you are talking about. Been there.... My shins were roasted after 15 min in a traffic jam. I cannibalized an old PC and took a little fan from the CPU and mounted it under the seat just betweem the battery and the rubber sheet over rear cylinderheads. I put a nylon strap throug the mounting hole and around battery plus cable. the fan is laying horizontally. Than i connected it to the position light cable so it starts with lights on. I covered 4 vent holes in the frame (where roasting air used to get out right on my shines) with polyurethane cellular foam. The one used for packaging. Now i stay cool as a cucumber. The hot air leaves now on the rear wheel warming rubber for me  If you want some pictures just ask and i make snapshots for you. My email is asw@signalix.com
