fuel flooding engine HELP*************

    Hey everyone my first post so be kind please.:biggrin: I have a 2002 vfr 800, I was riding it and the bike started puffing white smoke and I could smell raw fuel out the pipes I rode about 10 miles to get home and went through a half tank of gas anybody ever had this problem?????? if so what the heck just happend:confused:

    Check your fuel line for leak. 02 is an FI
    white smoke....that is strange
    What is the mileage on the bike and the bike maintenance record?
    We need a bit more details

    the milage is 15k and maintained as per schedule. the bike has sat for about 6mo. just saw your profile Im about an hour from oc

    What is your location? If the bike sat that long, I would flush all the fuel and fill her up with fresh gas and pull in a can of fuel and injection treatment. Give her a good run and see if that go way

    15k is just broking in...........Hope is not head gasket. Is the smoke white and damn when you put your hand over the exhaust?

    local is Hemet. I will look at injector cleaner. It went through a tank of gas +some when I had somebody bring me more gas when I ran out about 3 miles from my house. The exhaust pipe where it goes vertical is damp with gas. Ive been told temecula motorsports will diagnose for 90.00.

    If it smell gas then it not a good sign. I am afraid you might have engine problem like crack in the block. Let hope it is not the case.

    It didn't happen !!

    Everyone knows Honda eliminated fueling problems when they ditched carbs in favor of their impossibly over-complicated Fi system, which is self-correcting, self-compensating, self-monitoring in its computer-controlled perfection and nowhere near as complex as a set of carbs, eh ??? :crazy:

    Maybe thats why the new-fageled manuals for FI have 100 pages compared to the 5 for carbureted bikes? Just a thought Ice-hunchin...:smile:
