Considering this VFR. How does the engine sound on this one? Ticking?

Here is the video from the current owner. Bike's been down and it's making a bit of a ticking noise. CCT? Needs a valve adjustment? Thoughts from the experienced VFR owners?

    Cheers

It's at a really good price. Less than $4k Canadian. 25000km on the odo.

    Hey Special.

OK, I'll throw out my opinions for what they are: opinions.

I know that bikes in Canada can be absurdly expensive. While this bike might have a reasonable price, to me, it seems like its been neglected and/or beaten on.

I couldn't tell, but is the left front fork leaking? Either way, the hose and clamp for for the breaks looks "weathered". You have the different colored fairings, as you pointed out in the video. It appeared there were a couple of dents in the gas tank. Dent in the exhaust can as you pointed out. The right side of the bike has the crankcase all scratched up.

I'm not saying a bike has to be mint, and maybe some things can be overlooked. But sometimes if the outside of the bike shows neglect, what's the inside like?

Not sure if its the CCT. Are you planning on doing the valves your self? If not, I know its $600 - $800 here in the US. Keep that in mind.

Does the seller have all the service records?

Just me, but I'd probably move on to something else.

$4000 not a chance......as Pliskin state to many little issue. For a not seem like the previous owner take care of the bike. It is an 2004 so that price is not really a good deal. Stay away

IMHO its over priced I bought my 03 with 3,000 miles for $4,000 5 years ago and it was in mint cond. Just a heads up always let the bike warm up before revving the motor.

Just to put my opinion there. I looked at this bike today. We were gonna buy it for my wife. I took it for spin it rides really nice engine feels fine but sounds like crap at idle. It seems to me it's something to do with the oil pressure? As soon as it revs up a tad the sound is gone. If it were valves or CCT wouldn't the klak klak just go faster with revs? The front brakes are messed up somehow they work really well but there is zero play in the lever, the lever is stuck all the way out and doesn't move, I've had many bikes in the past 16 years and the only other time this has happend to me is when pistons in my wifes track bike wouldn't release fully it's like the master cylinder held pressure in it . Just felt wrong. The right case cover has been busted and it's been fixed with JB weld or something. it's been down on both sides. The left side front fairing is messed up bad and the mounting tab is gone too. Gas tank has some dings. Bike came from the US and was sold by the bike company in TO that only has ads on kijiji and no website (that I could find anyway) I'm guessing it was a wreck from the US by the condition of it. We went there today with cash in hand to buy it but it was alot rougher than we expected. I was gonna offer the guy $3500 for it but he wouldn't go a dime under $4000

Based on your review, you're a brave man offering even $3500. That bike sounds more like it was salvaged and shipped to another country.

    Don't walk - run away.

Walk away from this bike. There are a lot nicer VFR's around on Kijiji. They maybe somewhat older, but it is not unusual to be able to pick one up with around 40000 kilometers, which is nothing on a VFR. I picked my 95 up last year for $3500, with 38000 k on it. In great shape, came with two sets of givi hard luggage, Corbin seat, braided lines, genmar risers, touring screen.

$4000 is not a good deal for any newish bike if it has been down and neglected.

Man. That bike is beat up for only 25,000 km on it. I bet it has gone over. Look at the headlight lenses. Left is clear a s a bell meaning it has been replaced while the right is pitted badly. Consistant with mine which has somewhere in the neighbourhood of 158,000 km. I suggest that bike has spent a lot if its time being driven very agressively. Look at the rear tire. Worn considerably on the sidewals yet the centre of those PR2's are like new. It may not have gone through hell, but it certainly has knowcked at the door. As recommended, walk away. Mine is in far better shape than that. It's an 06 with new paint and all the service records. I wouldn't expect to get much more that $3,000. if that for mine. But it is not for sale. We are getting married in the spring. We are in Canada. They allow that don't they?

Thanks for all the feedback everybody. I envy those than can pick up a newer gen VFR for around $3000. It's just not possible here in the Toronto area! I will walk from this one as recommended by others. A potential salvage bike, no matter how inexpensive it is, is not for me.

Don't kid yourself. Health Care is not free here either. In BC we pay somewhere like $40.00 per month for Health Care. Other provinces may be different or you may not pay monthly at all. But the provincila government pays for the health care some how. I kinda think it is from taxes you pay. Its a federal plan administered by the provinces. Provinces get "X" dollars from the feds, (us) and through transfer payments, the provinces can administer the health care plasn aas they see fit.. BTW. I was supposed to go in for Ultrasound scan of my shoulder. I was told the waiting list goes until next April unless I wanted to travel. I hopped on the bike and went for a ride to get it done. Do you have to wait that long for simple proceedures there?
