I'm the new owner of a 2004 VFR 800 . I live in the Wellsboro / Mansfield area of Pennsylvania. I also own a 1989 Honda Transalp, A 2010 Honda NT700V and a 2012 Can Am Spyder. All very different bikes. I'm looking to install a 12 volt outlet for my GPS. Has anyone done this??

Believe it or not but it's true. I'm currently putting the NT 700V up for sale. Over the years I've owned many bikes from a 125 Sacks enduro bike to a '74 Ducati road racer.
I'm seeking anyone who might have suggestions as to where the best place is to locate the 12v outlet.

Welcome aboard Tony and congrats on the latest addition.

Don't worry, we believe you have those bikes. We just don't really believe you until we see some pics. Its mostly due to our caveman mentality and not wanting to read.

Pics of scantily clad women are also welcome. If you have scantily clad women on your bikes, that's a bonus.

Where to order a 12V outlet? Lots of places with enough searching and Google-ing. I'm a fan of Wire My Bike. Joshua there, aka Tightwad on this forum and at VFRD, is a good guy and knows the electrical systems on these bikes pretty well. Could probably try Motorcycle Superstore.

    Enjoy your new ride.

I already have the 12v unit . Just looking for the best place to locate it on the bike. I have some ideas but would like to hear if anyone has had any problems mounting on the fairing or side panels.

Ahh, OK. I re-read your initial post and see what you mean.

There are definitely a lot of guys that have installed some sort of power for their GPS, Cell phones, radar detectors, heated grips/clothing.

Someone will probably come along soon enough with some ideas and pictures. There are some that cut the plastic to install it, and I've seen other run the wire up and then attach it to their tank bag.

You could try doing a search on this forum - top right corner - and see if that reveals anything.

Thanks for the response. I looked at mounting it here but I believe my GPS plugin unit would interfere with the Heli bars.
I thought about mounting on the left side of the fairing where it curves down and forward. 002.jpg

I have the heli bar on my and I have no issue with my location. I would try not to drill a hole on the fairing.
